Questions on removing charcoal filters and Carbonio ROW boxes...
What are the benefits of removing the charcoal filters? Why did AMG put these under the air filters? Would removing do any damage?
What benefits does the Carbonio ROW boxes provide? Would it be much different than just removing the charcoal filters and using just the air filters? Trying to understand these items ....... thank you for the help.. |
Benefit is less restriction through the airbox = more airflow.
They put them there for the USA market, because some people believe the environment needs to be cleaner and rob us of fun cars, I think it's plenty clean! No damage, but some seem to experience a rougher idle after, even though that could be several things other than the charcoal removal causing. Can't speak to Carbonio, I have yet to see any before/after trap speed comparison and I'm always hesitant without that, as dyno and HP calculations can be misleading from too many variables. They may be great, just haven't seen what I'd like to see. |
Thank you for the post.
Environment more clean? That's it? Those will be the first things to go once I get my hands on the right C ;) |
My dealer doesn't even put them in at service. I went to remove mine after service and none were there.
