Problems removing rear diff. 2012 amg coupe

I seem to be having a big problem as far as I can see. I recently bought a CF rear diff and figured I can easily put it on. Well apparently, there are these screws on each side by the muffler that I've never seen before and have no idea how to remove.....I even called Benz and sent them a picture of the screw and they don't know what it is. There's only been 1 other owner for this car and it hasn't been tampered with at all.

This little screw is driving me nuts!! It's stopping me from putting on this amazing CF diff! I need help!

They're called rivets and need to be drilled out.

Is this something that I could do or is it recommended to take it to benz and have them do it?

The fact that Benz did not know they were rivets should answer your second question.

looks like a simple push-in style retainer clip wherein the outer piece is placed into a hole (the two pieces being held together) and the center post is then inserted to expand the housing which in turn holds onto the pieces being retained. Have you tried pushing the center post into the housing?

I should add, though, that if this retainer is causing you extreme difficulty, I would rethink your decision to work on the diff by yourself.
