burnt smell.......solved
My previous posts have been an attempt to try and solve a "burning" smell in the cabin. I finally found a decent mechanic and upon lifting the car we found that the flange from the manifold to the engine is connected with only two screws; the third is snapped and sitting in the flange. Most likely fumes are escaping from there. Unfortunately, my mechanic thinks there is not enough space to be able to successfully remove the broken bolt and that he will have to remove the engine. I already upgraded my exhaust system in hopes of getting rid of the smell (didn't work,) and I have a tune on the car. If we do drop the engine, would headers be a good idea on a 2009 with 100k km's? From what I understand the tune and the exhaust upgrade contribute to about 80 percent of the gained hp; the headers less. I must add that they would be locally made; too much money here after customs.

You can remove the manifolds to replace the broken bolt without removing the engine. It is hard work but can be done.
LTHs are fantastic on this car but on the loud side. Try 4 into one with the collector after the final bend. You can custom make headers cheaper than buying ARH (MHP) or MBH?
