Help with choosing tires for my cbs
So basically there are very limited choices for the sizing I am after. The wheels I have coming in about a week but still no word on the Michelin pss, basically given up even after two months of trying to get some.
My wheels - HRE p101's are 20x F10J and R11J
The tires I wanted were Michelin pss - front 265/30R20 - rear 305/25R20
The fronts are not the problem, however the rears are a very limited selection. For 305/25 I have been told by my tuner (if I don't mismatch fronts and rears) that my choices are Pirelli p-zeros or Bridgestone s001. Both of these tires aren't very good from what I've heard/ read online. Does anyone have anything good to say about them for grip? Any experience with spirited driving on 305's or close to that?
Or I could run a continental 5p 295/30, which I have on my car now (285/30) but man they slip all over the place. Even a little gas coming out of the corner and I'm practically drifting lol. My tuner has told me that the conti 5p's are sooooo much better then the p-zero's or the s001's too, so I feel like all my choices suck
I'd rather run a 305/25 or 315/25 with something that can grip the road with a 255,265,275/30 in the front.
I'll keep searching the Internet and talking with my tuner, hopefully I can get some rubber sorted out soon. Any advice, help or tips would be appreciated. Thx!
Oh and tire rack said the only help they could do would be mismatch rear and front. The only rears they have (in stock) that would fit me would be p-zero Nero gt 305/25R20 and I'd have to ship them from America to Japan. I'd gladly ship tires to Tokyo from anywhere if they have good grip, would prefer not to mismatch, or is it not really a big deal to mismatch? I'm not tracking but I do a lot of mountain passes outside of Tokyo and a lot of night city driving through the tunnels and other areas. I have my stock wheels for when I wanna track.

My bad they do come in 20" but only 315/30/20
Wonder if that will rub, I'll do some digging. Thanks again

Good luck in ur search, I was in the same situation as u few days ago searching for 275/25/20 PSS no luck.. & I could only find mismatched tires for front & rear. So I gave up on going 20's for my show wheels lol

Thanks buddy! I'm contemplating just getting the cheaper tires that look good until the pss come through. I mean almost all tires have good grip in the begining haha. Will continue the search but like yourself I want the /25 profile on the 20"s as it looks so damn awesome. Either gonna go 305/25/20 or 315/25/20 just got to do a bit more research with the very limited choices. Tuner is urging me to go with the conti 5p in a 295/30/20 still... He says my other choices really suck compared to them.

Conti 5P are awful, you won't be happy with them at all.
I wouldn't mis-match. I'm sure it's "OK" to be honest with you, but, I just don't personally like it.
Toyo Proxes T1R come in the fronts you want, and 315/25/20.

Surprised nobody in Japan has mentioned Toyos to you? T1Rs aren't bad, they grip quite well.

I agree with u about the conti 5p, I don't like them at all. The Toyo's do not come in 265/30r20 only 275.

Looks like I found a 305/25R20 in the conti 5p with a 265/30R20 front. Will just use these until I can get some better rubber.
Not thrilled with the tires but I guess the only option that will fit in those sizes. Hopefully the previous conti 5p I had were just old and hardened and these new ones will be better. They do have decent reviews all over the Internet. Just don't like them from personal experience.
Thx everyone for the tips and help. Wheels will be on the car on the 20th so will post some pics shortly after that. Wonder how satin bronze will look on matte silver lol.

for 20s? well, id say pirelli p nero zero but their disconnected for 20s
I have Falken FK 453's ...best tire i've owned beside the pirelli's, and i've had all the others..the "PSS" etc..Stay away from the PSS if you're on 20s ..

Falken fk 453 widest on 20" is 285 I believe I'd rather go 305 or 315.

The HRE rep from America is visiting Tokyo today and just called me from my tuners/distributors shop. He is excited to see my car on the p101 as there are not many black series in Japan. He basically told me, I have to go with the conti 5p and they found 305/25/20 and by next summer I can get the pss if I want still. Crazy how long of a wait.
Well thx everyone for your help/advice/ tips. Looks like the decision is made. I just hope my previous experince with conti 5p was bad luck and they were very old and hard or something. At least I got the size I'm after for now.
Will post lots of pics sometime shortly after the 20th when my wheels are on!
Thoughts and positive energy go out to Paris!

the PSS were like driving on slicks with 20s, when i had them on my 18s it wasn't too bad, just has more meat, the falkens have quite a bit of meat for 20s and always hook up extremely well
