Thanks guys. I might rethink my strategy now. Maybe I'll just leave the longtubes and do a decat and tune with crank pulley. I'll keep you posted.
You're fooling yourself if you really believe that a full decat will net you the power of a Long tube car. You're just getting the noise with minimal gains.

Thing is, my info comes from reasonably reliable sources from many C63 owners in this country. I'm going by what they tell me...which is... a solid dyno tune with a decat will net 550hp-560hp while longtubes with the same type of tune with net 560-570hp (all crank figures)

That being said, I am wondering if it's time to finally make that call to DPE in Australia for a set of RHD headers. As much as I like to save money, I'm also an N/A nerd who is able to somehow justify £100/hp on his cars. I've got the worlds fastest N/A celica...I'm silly like that

Can't wait to mod this motor...I really love this car.

The power under the curve and torque is where proper headers will really beat out the decat but anyone saying taking the most restrictive part of the exhaust out won't have any effect is just a big silly pants

Yep, that makes sense to me and tbh lower down power on my big 2 tonne car is just as important as top end glory numbers above 5000rpm.

maybe shorty headers but i can't see how a decat would be the same as a LTH from MHP or MBH...i would say go for headers AND decat or 200 cell cats if needed for gov restrictions etc!

Im running LTH, no cats/res, xpipe, stock mufflers.
