3M Carbon Interior Wrap Finished
I bought my 2014 C63 sedan with the orange-y wood grain trim. I guess some people love the wood trim, but it makes me feel like an 70 year old man in a Buick so I got some quotes to switch to carbon fiber.
One quote I got was:
DCTMS: $1799 and core exchange plus shipping
I'm sure it's an amazing quality product, but come on..$2k for 7 small pieces of trim!?!? Are you kidding me?! Talk about AMG tax!
Next I decided since all new carbon trim wasn't an option, I wanted to have it wrapped. I called some wrap companies and I got quotes between $400 - $600 for full carbon wrap. No thanks.
Now I've wrapped some various small pieces myself before, and thought with the right materials I'm sure I can do a B+ job on it.
I did some research and everyone recommends 3M Di-Noc Carbon Fiber due to it's nice thickness, and mold-ability. I shopped around and found a 4'x1' roll on Amazon Prime for $18.
Yup, $18!!
Here is the link:
First I purchased one roll to try this out, and after completing my whole front end (dash trim, and both front doors), I ordered a second roll for the rear doors. I could have gotten away with one roll for everything, but it would require strategic cutting of the 4'x1' roll. There wouldn't be an centimeter for error, so do yourself a favor and order 2 rolls. Especially if you haven't done vinyl wrap before.
I've messed around with vinyl wrap before, and tried Vvivid Vinyl on an M5 I used to own and that stuff was an absolute pain to work with. Let me tell you, this 3M Di-Noc stuff is amazing! Once you heat it up, it is super stretchy and easy to work with.
All the door trims I left in place. Only piece I removed to wrap was the big dash piece as it just pops out and makes wrapping a breeze.
Final Results:
Cost me $36 and about 2 hours time. Can't beat it!

The 3M stuff holds up pretty good, and considering it's on the inside and the car is tinted all around, I'm sure it'll last 5+ years without cracking/fading/etc. I only typically keep my cars 1-2 years anyways so that won't be an problem.
I know right!? That's $1800 PLUS labor to get all your old stuff out to send to them, PLUS shipping. You can buy a 2000 Honda civic for $2k! We're talking about 7 small pieces of carbon fiber, not gold! I can't even imagine what the 9-piece kit would cost with the shifter surround and ashtray cover..$3k plus your first child? haha

Looks good for the price! I did the same & hated it after a while, can't be happier with the real deal from Matt.
Btw, u should have wrapped the passenger side the other direction to match the driver side. Just a little detail though, not a big deal.

Props on being able to afford the real thing, I on the other hand aren't that big of a baller to drop $2k on some trim haha.
Why did you start hating it? This stuff looks/feels amazing, and reminds me of the carbon interior I had on my wife's E93 M3.

I didn't pay anything near 2k$ for my trim & Matt never asked for oem as core exchange. U should have email him first.. His email is everywhere on the forum .. Or search for olszowa12.
I removed it cuz I prefer the glossy trim.. It's just personal preference. In ur case, it's a big improvement from the wood trim though.

It's a night and day difference, completely changes the feel of the car..makes the car feel much more sportier and modern IMO.
Yes you are haha, but someone paid the premium for it at one point from MB when optioning the car. I love the glossy carbon OEM trim!

Nicely done!! Sorry for the dumb question, I have no experience with wrapping. But how do you handle the trim parts without removing them? Do you tuck in the excess? And doesn't it show? Can't tell from the pics. It looks like a super job though!

Looks like a quality install my friend well done! The texture / look of the wrap does not look like the real deal CF trims. But they do look much better then the stock wood grain.
I have to admit, having OEM carbon trims do add tremendous appeal to the interior of the car. I have a PFL C63 and the interior looks a bit dated, after I added the carbon trims with a little bespoke touch, I could not believe how much higher end the interior looked and feels.
I had OEM Affalterbach edition trims hand pinstriped in Scuderia Rosso red.

I got this wrap here:
It's supposed to be glossy and based on what I'm seeing on the roll it looks pretty good. I'll add to this thread if I actually manage to wrap anything this weekend.
Going to wrap my diffuser for sh*ts and giggles and see how it comes out (my first wrap job). My interior is all actual carbon fiber.

Just to add to longevity of the wrap, wrapped my carbon fiber hood in CF vinyl (yes, it's a fake carbon fiber, carbon fiber hood lol). That car sits outside in the SoCal sun and has weathered for gosh 5 years, maybe more. It's still on there solid, looks just as good (expect for some overspray when I was painting a car). It wasn't 3m, but a cheaper company, so I'd imagine 3m would be just as good, if not better.
BTW I think it looks amazing. I like the matte finish. If my trim wasn't the grey wood grain, I would def consider doing this.
Saph, that gloss CF vinyl looks pretty dang amazing. Can't wait to see pics of it done.
