Another Magnuson C63 Supercharger Install

Another C63 Supercharger install...

Phil Chow 02-19-2016 04:21 AM

Interesting, that retains the use of the stock Airboxes?

Southways 02-19-2016 05:39 AM

Retains the original uppers/lids, but has new injection-moulded lowers.

s.e.a.n. 02-19-2016 09:40 AM

Interesting stuff, how much WHP is that exactly?

+1

Wonder if this would work for people with the RennTech/Carbonio/BOCA Airbox Lids/Intake Systems.

1 kW = 1.341 HP
122 rwkW = 164 rwHP increase
379 rwkW = 508 rwHP

This install was on a totally standard vehicle (no mods, except what comes in the supercharger kit).

Am I the only one finding it odd that every one of these Magnuson installation examples are being performed on vehicles with no other mods of any kind? I'm not doubting the numbers or quality of the kit at all - looks like a nice option - just wondering who puts a supercharger on a C63 without any air intake or exhaust mods whatsoever at the very least. Would like to see some real-life examples on an FBO car before forming an opinion really, that's all...

Great question, easy answer.
Magnuson has a mandate of satisfying the EPA & CARB certification processes which means that we cannot offer a legal kit on vehicles that have any other modification, unless we also supply those modifications. For example; to offer a kit that gets the benefit of headers, we would have to get the EO with headers fitted & offer the kit with only the same headers.

The Australian installations are even more restricted by over-zealous tree-hugging Koala-kissing politicians. In most Aussie States, every car has to be individually tested to pass the same EPA spec as when the car was new. That's a challenge with headers.

However... there are several Hammer installs that have been done on C63's with headers & other mods, including over-drive pulleys. Results range in the +200 to +250 rwHP range.

Gintani has had some impressive results on race gas.

I just got mine installed last week, but waiting for some fine tuning before doing a write up on it. Had it on a mustang dyno past Tuesday, going again next Friday. So expect a post sometime Saturday.

Cool. Looking forward to seeing the results.

I don't mind your guy but most of the country here were happy to see Tony Abbott get turned out by his own party.

I can understand that there are people that have the cash and simply want more instant power without the additional noise of headers and exhaust mods (perhaps they have never heard belt whine?).

The regulation of vehicles here is so much heavier than the USA. We dream of getting away with a fraction of what you can do in most US states and let's not mention the extortionate pricing we face in Australia.

chrisridebike8 02-19-2016 07:21 PM

508 whp?! Lame. Don't you guys know that avery's car makes that with a tune and secondary cat delete?!

All kidding aside, nice results. I'm interested to see what this kit makes with some headers. I wonder how the tranny will hold up.

I don't have pre-SC-install 1/4 mile times, but this is what it runs with the blower. Stock 2015 AMG C63 with Magnuson TVS 2300 SC and a set of DOT Drag Radials - my timeslips are attached...

Great results.
How is the car running? Any plans for headers? From what i was told when you add headers it steps up to bigger injectors and a smaller pulley?

johnnyblaze 03-18-2016 02:30 PM

The Magnuson SC is a great option. I've been watching Gintani's build pretty close. Numbers are great. 663whp 550tq :zoom:

Been following the build as well.
Just wanted to see if there were any other builds similar and what the numbers are like.

MrkiC63 03-20-2016 06:16 AM

Thats great numbers.

What are the mods? What pulley? Video?

wawy 03-21-2016 12:08 AM

So this is with the standard MCT transmission without any upgrades to it?

marioflex 03-21-2016 09:07 AM

With this numbers the transmission will start to slip gears soon. Once you get to 600 whp its a matter of time depending the use you give to the car. A build transmission is the best choice if you want that power level.

Car runs great, nice mild mannered street car :). No plans at this point for headers, I think it will run 10s as is with some adjustment to the shift points. It's currently shifting at about 5750, but the car pulls strong right to redline. Planning to get back to the track in a few weeks.

I have one of these kits installed on my 507 and it works great.
I have the upgraded pully, bigger injectors, wavetrac LSD and IPE headers.
So far I have nearly 590 RWHP and over 1000 NM.
My car is currently at a work shop in Brisbane getting the alternator pully upgraded and some further tuning to sort out some gear box issues.
I am keen to get to the strip after I sort out some better tyres and see what times I can run

Who in Brisbane is doing your work? When I get my C63 back we should catch up.
