Out of warranty
What's up guys? I've had my 2012 since day one. I have about 48600 miles on it. Currently out of warranty and debating if it's worth keeping the car or move on. Currently full bolt on with nitrous. Thoughts appreciated.
Thanks guys

Do you like the car? Keep it

I love the car. I've test driven quite a few different cars recently and none really have the character of this car. Even drove the new c63s. And even though that car is leap years ahead, it just lacks soul and doesn't feel as raw as the w204. So just trying to grabbing others input if I should keep it and what to look out for down the road as far as issues with the m156 at higher mileage... Excluding the fact that I don't have the headbolt issue.

Did you actually have any drivetrain warranty work covered with nitrous installed (not to mention bolt-ons)? I think your drivetrain warranty has been gone for a lot longer than you think.

Had an intake manifold gasket leak at 20k. Replaced with new updated gasket and sikky intake gasket. Nitrous is hidden.

I've got a set of phenolic intake manifold gaskets sitting in a box at home. Been debating whether to put it on or not. Did you notice any difference with yours? I'd say mine is 1/8" thick so not sure if I need longer bolts or not.

Nothing to write home about. These damn FL run so hot. You don't need longer bolts. When I spray the car runs cooler to be honest.

Yeah, I hear ya, trying everything I can to get the temps down. Just ordered the Sikky ones, look thinner. Did you stack them with OEM gaskets, or just use them by themselves?
Sorry for the hijack. I vote for you to keep it for what it's worth.

These cars are pretty damn bullet proof if you ask me. Show me any other car you can bolt a blower to and crank out 250-300hp more out of a stock engine. Headbolts are the only issue.
I have 93,000km on mine and it drives great. 33,000km with the blower.

I am keeping mine and it's been out of warranty for a while. I haven't had any issues other than the ones caused by desire to modify the car.
I agree that there really isn't any other cars out there that is a suitable replacement for it. There are more track focus and better performing cars, but doesn't meet the dd needs.

2012, similar milage, warranty just finished. i say keep it! these cars dont seem to have too many issues to worry about. seems like there are options if you want to sturdy up your drivetrain as well. they sure arent going to make another one like this

All I would do if I were you is stay off the bottle if you're worried about longevity. But even spraying, as long as you aren't trigger happy these cars are stout enough to last you another 50k+. The maintenance is just like any other car, stay on top of it and the car will go and go and then keep going.
I'm constantly shopping around for something newer myself. I don't know why, but the 13 is getting "dated." However, there really isn't anything on the market right now that I want and can afford. Aside from a few GM/Ford but ew, domestic, gross.
Keep it my friend.

Every car will have issues....the worst you'll have is the inevitable cam/tappet failure with enough miles put onto the motor, but apart from that, the rest of it is pretty stout. Sure you might get the odd alternator or waterpump issue at much higher mileage but any car can get those.
4k for a warranty is madness. Sure it would pay for itself if the motor blew outright, but assuming the health of the motor is strong, i'd keep it. I'm in a similar situation myself....do i renew, or do i boldly own it without warranty....i've got less than 2 weeks to decide whether or not i should extend the warranty or not...

I thought the cam/tappet was pre-fl cars as well...

Went with fidelity 5 year 60k more addition miles for 3600 this car is great I would keep it. If your worried extend the warranty. Just might have to return to stock if anything major happens.

Anything that goes on this car is expensive. That said, I've also driven a bunch of other cars and none had the soul of this thing. Haven't yet tried a 991 911 though... Trying to protect myself from myself.
If you can afford a fix here and there and still enjoy it, this car is hard to beat. Running costs are high, but the smiles per miles ratio on this car is off the charts. I'd say keep it.
