Knocking noise from steering wheel
Hi guys,
Last week i had the front stabilizers links replaced at the dealership and since I keep hearing a low knocking sound coming from the steering wheel. It happens when I start turning the steering. I will take it back to the dealership but needed your opinion first in case they try to BS their way out. Any help would be appreciated. I'll post a video when I get the chance.
Thanks

I'm going through this right now with the dealership. No knocking, went in for airbag recall, now my steering knocks and the steering is off.

2016 revival? It’s probably the securing bolt. This bolt is tapered fit that secures the wheel when you torque down. It’s usually one time use and likely they may have reused it and set it at the proper torque and now the bolt isn’t holding as well as it used to.

Just guessing here, but I don't think there would be any need to remove the steering wheel bolt when replacing the airbag. I've not removed the airbag on a C63 but have done so on other cars, and I cannot think of anything they would have done during an airbag replacement that would have caused the steering to feel loose.

Yup no need to remove the steering, but then the steering wheel shouldn’t make said noise either if that was the case.

The airbag recall was for the front driver & passenger, + knee bolster underneath the driver steering wheel.
In other words, it's just a piece of foam they attach to the steering column area. Very snug fit though, which looks like it would require the removal of the steering wheel.
Attached is the recall PDF for the Takata airbag for 2009 C63.

Hahaha. I'm thinking about taking the foam piece it, it interferes with the automatic steering column, sometimes makes a "crunch" sound and stalls the adjuster.
