Are you sure you want to stop here?!
Which rotors are these?
And new calipers because I heated up the OE to a new beautiful gold color. I actually like the new color better than the original silver but they were beginning to malfunction at the track.

I like where this is going! a nice set of 2 piece rotors are an amazing upgrade for those of us who have standard 1 piece setups.
Why not do the Racing Brake 390 MM BS upgrade on the front?

Nice, where did you buy the parts from? Are the Girodisc lighter than the 2-piece OEM rotors on the P30 package?

Always admired your car and set up. Definitely admiring your track runs too...

I am trying to reign myself in and not always go all out. And I didn't want to have to change the caliper adjuster as well. Stock size will be just fine for me.

I don't know the weight of the P30 2 piece rotors. The Girodisc fronts claim to be 23.6 lbs. RB fronts are stated at 24 lbs. The Girodisc's are slotted only, not drilled. I'm hoping that will reduce potential cracking.

+1 on the XP12. They are awesome on track. Abrasive as hell though.

Yeah I installed my BBK myself. Wasn't too bad in hindsight. You doing yours?
Going to need new rotor rings before the season is up. And I only get about 4 full trackdays (days, not events) on the XP12's - bite like crazy but don't last long.
BTW I'm going to organize a group buy on the XP12's. They're way cheaper that way, and I need to buy in bulk lol.

I am definitely thinking about it but I'm trying to scope it for time, effort, and maybe some new tools - if necessary. I'm searching the forum and youtube to get a feel for this task.
I'll keep an eye out for the group buy and you can count me in.

I did the install myself too - there is actually a thread in the FAQ section with pictures and comments. Not hard, took me a day first time (including swapping out the brake lines and rear calipers), and did it all on jackstands. All you need is box wrenches and a 10 mm Allen Socket to get the calipers off. A Torx set (e,g, for the rotor set screw). Open mouth 11 mm wrench for the bleeder screws I think. Nothing unusual, if you do some work on your car yourself.
Re life you can expect from the Carbotechs. My first set lasted 3 days on the Merc, but I drive very hard. On my new track car (3100 lbs, brake cooling ducts) they last forever in comparison. They have 3 days on them now and look like I have 3/4 left. Our C63s are simply very hard on brakes. If you could get a brake cooling duct in somehow it would help lots.

Regarding buying Carbotechs: You can call them directly and they will ship you direct. That is the fastest, if you are in a hurry, but they will charge you full retail plus S/H. Going through a large dealer and doing a group buy will bring significant savings.
Last time I did that, Carbotech charged us a core charge for the rear pads (22 $ I think, do not remember off hand whether that was per piece or per pair). Our rear pads are apparently rarely sold.
The front pads needed to be slightly reworked in order to install them (the slot for where the retaining pin goes was a bit too tight). So that is something to check when you get a new set. You do not want to find that out when you need to change them in a hurry at the track.

Former Vendor of MBWorld
Carbotech brake pads are too abrasive and destructive to the rotor (not just our rotors) - This goes back to the history when we started shipping our two piece rotors for Sti and EVO more than 10 years ago.
Customers run RB rotors (after gaining more track experience) tend to stay away from it, although it helps us sell replacement rings thou.
Nissan GTR is a good community to check their favorite rotors and pads.

The XP12 might be abrasive and wear rotors quickly, but they STOP. And that's the important part. I never question my RacingBrake BBK with these pads.
And the GTR guys love them too.

Yes, agree. The Carbotechs use rotors, as Bigtickets found out. Total running cost is cost of pads plus cost of rotor rings though.

Most of the talk is about the front brakes and rotors. But what about the rear brakes? I don't see rear rotors on Girodisc's website, although I see OP got them.
Are the OEM rear rotors also 2-piece on the P30 cars?
I'm trying to decide if to go with the stock (brembo) 2-piece rotors or aftermarket 2-piece like Girodisc.

Is Tal still with ACG? I tried to buy Volk rims through ACG last week. They did not call back and did not follow through. I had to go elsewhere.
Blkrkt, I and a few others have RacingBrake 2 piece rotors front and back. You can get them stock size or upgraded to Black Series Size. Very happy withy those rotors!

When i went to place the order, i called. I was told Tal is no longer there...james did respond, but the whole thing threw me off. I ended up purchasing locally in canada.
