No cooling upgrades, and I did indeed go into limp mode. This was shot in the middle of June. Ambient temps were about 95 degrees. I could go hard for 5-6 laps then hit limp mode.
I was out there again Oct 1 & 2 and temps were about 85-90 degrees and had the same result. This time I had tried the Shell Rotella 5W-50 (instead of Mobil 1 0W-40) and it didn't seem to help at all.
So I had to alter my driving habits to stay out of limp mode. At the end of the two long straights I would lift and coast awhile instead of gas/brake. That gave the engine a little relief and fresh air. I also gunned it a little harder and coasted through the esses for a mid-track break. Can't be on the gas hard in that section anyway so I experimented with the coasting. Doing this, I made it through the whole session without hitting limp.
