Found: Black AMG 57mm Hood Emblem
Many of us have been looking to replace or upgrade to Black and Silver AMG Hood Badge that is 57mm (not the smaller one that doesn't fill the space).
I think I finally found one: http://www.autowheelcapled.com/index...eries-952.html |
Yeah unfortunately that's exactly the same 57mm cheap badge all over eBay. They last about 6mo before getting all dented up. I got 2 4-packs last time for like $15 and just keep changing it out. They are metal stickers, not very thick, very flimsy. And the Affalterbach emblem is not raised, it's all uniformly flat.
These are the eBay ones. Top one is for wheels and lacks the chrome surround of the dedicated hood emblem (second one). Both are 57mm. I have like 6 of the top ones left. I think they look better without the chrome border. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...13715d34d.jpeg |
^^^we think alike when it comes to cars...
|
Hmmmm.... the picture with it in the hood does look raised and not flat, but agree the others look flat...
ordered one anyway... |
True those are flat sliver stickers on a plastic chrome plate. They suck.
There was a Japanese seller selling raised on on metal plate on ebay. I got one like 4 years ago and its the best one I've seen. Unfortunately he is no longer selling them. But BLkRKT is right. |
I was looking around a few months back and came across a hood ornament maker who does custom work in metal. Only seemed worthwhile if ordered in bulk, and wasn't going to be cheap. When I stop traveling next week, I'll look back into it and post something up here in the forum to see if we can get the right amount of people signed up for it. We're going to need a high-quality sketch/print of the Affalterbach crest to use also...
Any interest? |
Me! I'm interested
|
Me to.
|
I'm in... I recall finding beautiful machines ones but not in our size... would love to convince them...
|
I don't understand why these are so hard to find. It can't be that difficult to make/machine.
|
I'm down.
|
Id be in as well on a good quality piece that lasts.

Do you know if the actual OD is 57mm? Was thinking of grabbing some to replace the emblem on my centre caps which is 58.5mm but 57mm should work ok.

Not 100% sure. I'll go out to the car to grab one to measure later today.

I'll check and see how many I have left, I forget. If I have 4 I'll send them to you, mine on the hood is holding up pretty good.
|
Cool, thanks man.

Meh not a fan, too flashy for my style. I think I will try and find some Mercedes star center caps that will fit. Someone must make sh¡t like that lol. They'd probably look better if the badges had a larger diameter and flat instead of being convexed like they are.

ive emailed some sellers if they could get the 45mm metal emblems created in 57mm but no one ever came thru
|
