As some of you may know I come from a drag racing background had have a little experience with this subject. Generally you want to run the widest tire you can possibly fit to achieve the best grip. I agree that overall diameter plays a big role and thats why the second number (275-XX-17) makes a difference. You want enough sidwall to allow the tire to flex and grip. I used to run the MT ET's 26x9x15 and would routinely pull a 1.68 60ft in a first gen camaro with 450hp and 480 tq. The drag radials are a compromise on performance but are still good. I can vouch for the Nitto 555R's they hook hard and MT is also a good bet.

There are some good calculators out there to help u figure your tire diameter and effect on final drive ratio witch affects ET. http://www.wallaceracing.com/calc-gear-tire-rpm-mph.php

Hope this helps.

Good information, that's exactly why I bought the 17's, so I could have a 40% aspect ratio to allow the tire to hook better.

yes yes it will hook with those 245 tyres

bigger tyres doesnt mean it will hook better its a combination

Hagi hooks with 225 50 16s

When you can 16’s drag set up, what was your wheel offset (if you remember)? Did you shave the caliper or do a smaller brake conversion in the rear?

no worries if not, was curious. 👍🏽

Hey guys I got a 507 edition with the stock 19" forged wheels upped to 245/35/19 mps4s fronts and 265/30/19 rears r888r rears.

My question is can I leave my 19s up front the way they are and put a set of 17s in the rear, 275/40/17 drag radials. I don't daily my car but I'd like to leave it on and drive like that on weekends.

From what I've researched the wheel and tire combo will work with the correct off set but what I'd like to know is if the car electronics will be okay with 19s on the front and 17s on the rear.
Thinking of getting a nice set of beadlock welds.
