Shop to Rebuild Motor/ Fix headbolt issue
I'm in upstate NEW YORK
I was wondering if anyone knows of a good shop in NY that can rebuild/install new head bolts on my C63. I want a reputable shop or someone that knows what they're doing. Willing to go into NYC/LONG ISLAND |
BERGEN IMPORTS. Harry is the best in the area, no question.

Out if curiosity, are you just doing the headbolts or are you completely rebuilding the motor? If so, whats the reasoning? (Headbolts are obvious). Thanks!
|
So, did it turn out to be the head bolts after all? Like I said in your other thread I had the same symptoms temporarily when one of my bolts decided to self-elongate as i believe the coolant was actually quenching the combustion in that cylinder....

No one can figure out the issue. Went to two dealerships and couple mechanics.. they don't know what the issue is. 1.They said it was sparks, so I changed those. (didn't fix anything) 2. They said it was coils, so I changed those too. ( didn't fix anything) So then I came to the forums to ask for help... people told me o2 sensors/intake/gasket/manifold/sparks/coils etc 3. They said o2 sensors, so I changed those too. (didn't fix anything) 4. They said its the intake gasket/manifold thing. (didn't do anything) 5. They said maybe the ECU needs to be reset, reset ECU. (didn't do anything) 6. I even thought about getting a new ECU but they said its not the ECU 7. They said it's my headers and EC tune. (Spent the money removing the headers and de-tuning the car) putting everything back to stop. (didn't do anything) At this point I don't know what the problem is. I'm praying its not the headbolt issue because I only have 55k miles on it but it is an 09 C63. I don't know how much the headbolt replacement will cost me.. I'm hoping its not a lot because I've already spent a good amount of $$$$ fixing crap that doesn't need to be fixed. I'm sure the dealerships happy.. taking my money replacing things that don't need to be replaced. So if anyone knows how much it'll cost to replace the headbolt issue and knows someone good and reputable that knows what they're doing please let me know! |

So far I don't have any thick white smoke from my exhaust. I'm hoping I never see it, but I did smell something really really bad from the exhaust. I'm used to the catless smell but this smell was different. I don't think they found any coolant leaking. |
Wow man, like relax. People here are trying to help you in both your threads. If you're so terrified, stop driving the car immediately and just give it to someone who knows what they're doing. Yes, Harry at Bergen is one of the best in the business. He does this stuff in his sleep.

I apologize if I came off the wrong way, I wasn't trying to come off rude or anything at all. The cars been in the shop for about two weeks already and every mechanic/dealership I've gone to can't seem to find the problem. |

I had my car there recently before I gave it to my brother and Harry fixed my violent shaking and misfiring. It was a intake leak as well as sensor issue. Also installed headers on it recently and it runs smooth. The car has about 68k miles.

Yeah I have a hard time trusting people with my car. I have a cls63 and i took it to a mechanic (i won't name for certain reasons) but he works on some exotic and high end cars as well but he took my car for a joy ride and i feel like he did more harm than good so ever since then I don't really trust people.

Here's my estimate for head bolts and lifters. His shop rate is $108/hr.

what im actually confused about and i might need someone to explain this to me, headbolt breaking actually make the car run with a rough idle/ loss of power and even seizing up the engine or making the car run very lean and even causing it to stall?

That's why you need a dash cam. I got a body shop on camera revving my cold car multiple times and got them to pay for the next service. Dash cam paid for itself.
Also I don't know if this is true or not, but I heard its illegal to record audio without consent. |
