C63 W204 - Long Tube Headers - Suggestions and Questions
All,
First, I know there are countless threads on LTH for the w204; however, I am seeking some additional information in one consolidate thread. I am seeking LTH for my 2013 c63. The c63 is my daily, I drive my elderly grandfather, in addition to my child frequently. I am not seeking a LTH setup that is overly loud in sound. Ultimatly, I am looking for that added power and enhanced sound; however, nothing that will be so loud its annoying to drive. If anyone could provide some guidance or detail surrounding their experience with LTH on the c63 it would be greatly appreciated. I was highly interested in the MBH LTH, then I saw the FI setup... and read multiple entertaining threads... Less concerned with price, simply seeking power and not an over the top obnoxiously loud exhaust note. Any suggestion on brand or set up would be truly appreciated. |
All headers are going to be incredibly loud compared to the stock system. There are no specific LTH brands any significant amount quieter than others. I suggest just not stepping on the gas. Or pair the LTH with a valved cat-back exhaust.
|
As above
I have headers and sports cats it's loud as when you want but I can easily drive my car quiet |
It almost sounds like you should just remove the secondary cats and replace with straights (based on what you are describing). I understand this option is not headers, not sure if you were looking for hp gain or sound?
It will be a bit louder, not obnoxious etc. I can't comment on LTH except for that they would be loud. |
My primary objective is HP gains.

Go with mbh or ARH long tubes with catted mids and x pipe. Done deal. It will be loud for sure but will def give you performance. It is quiet if you drive it normally when you get on it it will scream.
|
Look up ARH with a remus exhaust. A memeber on here has AR headers with high flow cats and a remus exhaust. Sounds like what you are looking for. I'd give you the youtube link but I have poor service here

Thanks all for the details and time provided.
I am considering the FI LTH pretty heavily. They seem to be the right price and ready to ship out. I know there is some back and forth between companies; however, has anyone truly had first hand experience with FI LTH? The build seems "identical" to MBH; however, SS quality and craftsmanship could be lacking... None the less - heavily considering FI as an option. |
I ran FI on my W205 C63S and was very happy. Anyone saying it is not quality really hasn't seen the craftsmanship in person to comment. From what I recall a member here ran it on the dyno and made almost 30 horsepower. So it's making power and significantly cheaper. Nothing to really think about in my opinion.

That's my video above. The setup is quite tame from the inside of the car while driving around normal. My wife is not a fan of loud exhaust systems and she's never once complained....until I drive like an ass. Even then, it's less the exhaust noise and more the driving like an ass part. But even at WOT it's not too loud....but my tolerance for noise might be different than yours.
I've never heard it in person but from online video clips and other members' input, the Akrapovic exhaust tames LTH even more. Akra is not cheap but maybe Golan at Auto Talent can cut you a deal since you're interested in their FI LTH offer. I had the FI valved catback for awhile and thought the quality was just fine. No build quality issue that I could tell and fit/finish was pretty standard. |
I put them on my black series and I am happy with the FI LTH.

LTH are loud when you step on the gas.
I think you will need to pair it with a Valvetronic exhaust system so you can reduce the volume when required. I have just fitted IPE headers and mid pipes on my car, and it is very loud when flooring it. Quality is awesome. |
Just pulled the trigger. I purchased the FI LTH. Should receive within 2 weeks. Will post updates than.
Thank all for your help! |

My gf hates when I go WOT. Her favorite thing to say is "unnecessary" |
I am looking forward to the comments from the wife and more particularly from the grandfather (92 years old).

Headers will change your life

Go with Kleemann LTH, get them ceramic coated. You will NOY be disappointed at the price point or the performance and gains that you will receive.
PLUS, the musicality that it adds to the OM AMG sound complements each other perfectly. Eurocharged will certainly take great care of you. Not many people go with the Kleemanns, but they are one of the first that developed specifically for MB AMG and well worth the money and gains. |

When it comes time to buy LTH FI is who I will be looking at. Some people may get up set that they are able to sell at a cheaper price but personally I think Its nice to see the free market in action. Competition is always a good thing for the consumer.. |

For a limited time you can get the FI headers from Auto Talent. Thats if you want a piss poor copy form a company that sells copied products. They soon will no longer be available.
For a few hundred dollars more you can have a top quality made in the USA with USA stainless steel from a company that only builds Mercedes headers. Not to mention our headers come with a lifetime warranty. Or you can go to a company that sells knock off and copied products at a quality level that is no even close to the original. |
