another tire question
Had the car at the stereo shop and unfortunatly they somehow got a screw stuck right in the corner of the tire near the sidewall on the driverside rear. They agreed to replace the tire but I have a few options now
507 19" wheels with stock conti extreme tires. 8/32's remaining on the fronts and 6/32's remaining on the rears. Evenutally Ill migrate to the new michelin ps4's but for now Im just going to replace the 2 rears with conti extremes.
Various sizes of the conti's are on sale on tirerack (255/30/19 is only 123$). After reading a bunch of tire posts here, I see no problem with using a 275 tire on the stock 19" 507 wheel which is probably the route im going. Maybe even a 285 but I dont know yet.
Question is, since New York roads are the absolute worst with potholes, would adding some more sidewall (either a 35 or even 40 series) tire pose a problem with a 275 tire? Does a 285/35/19 rub?

Yes. Changing overall diameter of the tire is no bueno. I would not do a 35 or 40 series tire u less you want to upset the ABS and ESC. I think you should be fine with a 275/30-19 but not upping the aspect.
