Nobody. That car/story recently came up too I think. Anyway.
Aside from maybe trying to exercise the economic might of the owner, the only way you're getting to $270k is if you include the price of the car to begin with and the car goes through a couple substantial stages with reversing/redoing involved.
Basically, they are full of chit on that $270#
Edit: Almost bragging about the high end passport that is installed... Out of $270k in mods a radar is one of a couple mentions, yeah, okay. Lol, I just saw a bill on a 488 for simple stuff, like some normal cf add ons and detail work, no body work nothing fancy... $60k. And these guys are going on about a radar detector on a $270k investment. Ha

My guess, is it was a shop show car for like SEMA, and they spent a lot of man hours fabricating parts they hoped to sell. So the hours involved are then calculated at $100+ hour, so figure 270 hours total.
Break that down into a 40 hour week, and you have 6.75 weeks at 40 hour/week. Now if you had 2-3 guys working on the car getting it ready for a show, it adds up quickly.
In the end, it's a business tax write off.
