Has anyone thought about the responsiveness change is a direct result of losing the rubber guibo (flex disc)? We already know the carbon driveshafts are NOT light weight from the suppliers. I have a feeling putting an aluminium plate where the guibo was would give you the same feel.
Do it and report back. There are two discs right? Gotta be less than a shaft.

The carbon driveshaft itself cushions the drivetrain more than the aluminum one. The dynamics are just totally different - think of the carbon driveshaft as a spring that winds and unwinds a bit, while at the same time providing a more direct feel.
Good luck making the aluminum disc/plate and fastening it then balancing it adequately. Let us know how that works out. Sounds like way more trouble than it’s worth, and there are probably safer areas to experiment rigging something together on your car.

For those sliding around with the DSS CF Driveshaft, in what orientation did you install the Driveshaft?
Lee at DSS recommends in our C63 application for the CV joint end to mate with the Trans side, and the U-Joint to mate with the Rear Differential side.
But as seen in Kevin's photos above, his installer chose an opposite orientation.
Those with a similar orientation as Kevin's above - why did you/installer choose CV joint end to mate with Rear Diff side?

The pics show incorrect installation. I was probably the first to put a custom DSS CF shaft on an AMG (CLK55) and it looks very similar to this shaft and it installs opposite to the pictures.
If there is enough interest I can put together another group buy

I will be installing per Lee's and Ahmad's recommendations: CV joint end to mate with the Trans side, and the U-Joint to mate with the Rear Differential side.

DO IT! I tried to organize one and failed over the summer. DSS was doing it at 10% but another vendor already sells at that discount. If you can do more and shipping I bet there’s interest!
And the mounts too! I need a sale to pull the trigger lol!
Best price still seems to be at Race Consulting Agency unless the fine people at ECE end up doing better but I think this lost momentum. I was just thinking about it however as there suddenly seems to be a lot of new blood that came in the past few months. Maybe there will be renewed interest!
Hmm, well I'm trying to track down this weird noise in the rear that sounds like a wheel bearing but I replaced the passenger rear and the noise was still there. Now I'm thinking it may be that center bearing and was wondering about replacing the whole shaft and be over it......

Your one of the main players on this forum. Please confirm you don' regret purchasing your CF drivershaft ? Ima long way from the great USA, if I have problems. Down under in Australia, I don't believe anyway has committed to this upgrade.

A few years back Vladds posted it was an easy install only requiring a few wrenches. So no removal of exhaust piping etc to get up in there? Cheers

Ensure that CV end mates to Transmission side; U-joint flange mates to the Rear Diff side.
Per Lee Mejia of DSS: 3 x 12mm bolts that go through the factory flanges on both ends will be 70 ft-lbs, the 6 x 10mm bolts that attach the CV to the front adapter are 57 ft-lbs, and the 4 x 3/8 bolts at the differential adapter are 54 ft-lbs. We recommend blue Loctite on the threads as well.
After bolting it on, check the Driveshaft CV clearance to ensure it is within 3.25 - 3.75 inches as posted on their website.

100% you need to take the exhaust down from the headers back to the resonator at least depending on what you have under there. Look at the pic below - it’s blocking access to the driveshaft completely. I don’t see a way to do it without taking the exhaust off.
Right on thanks. I guess this raises another question for as I wasn’t aware of the additional adapters. Is there a sequence in which all this gets tightened up? Better left to a pro? Or does it all make sense once the old shaft is off and the DSS unit is going in. Sorry for the confusion I just thought there were basically the two ends bolting to the diff and trans and bingo.
