Another tire post, but useful info!

I asked in a previous thread whether Michelin wear warranty credit can be applied to different Michelin tires or if we had to replace with the same model tire (sorry, couldn't find that post). Today I got my answer. Swapping my AS3+ for PSS (finally back in stock), and getting a couple hundred credit from the wear warranty on the AS3+'s. Gotta love Michelin.

Im shocked they have never black listed our car and excluded it from warranty. I guess for the numbers involved its not worth the optics, but per capita we must have a lot of claims, and thats about the car at least as much as the tires.

Michelin has a great customer warranty program, way back when I worked for sears, I had a nice older guy with a Cadillac who had a set of pilot sports wear out in 20k miles. They have no mileage warranty at all, since they are performance tires. He asked me to please verify with Michelin. I called them, they also said they had no warranty, but as long as he purchased another Michelin/BFGoodrich/Uniroyal tire, they gave him a 25% credit for the old tires. So he essentially got $250 just to stay with Michelin. That's great customer service.

Agree. I'm sold on Michelin, until they change their warranty.

I don't know what Michelin's costs are, but if C63 owners get new tires every 5k, than that's still a lot of units sold, and a sizeable market. I, for example, will only buy Michelins now.

Was curious so I looked this up. Details here at this link for anyone interested: http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tires/warranty.html

Unfortunately, DOT-approved competition tires are NOT covered, but all other tires are. That's outstanding.

Yeah, no surprise that competition tires aren't covered. Can you imagine if there were though? I'm looking forward to hitting the track in June with some fresh PSS'!

What do we have to provide to activate the warranty? (ie claim the difference?)

I've heard that it's best to go back to where you bought the tires, which is what I've done. Remaining tread has to be 4/32 or less.

Oh yeah, plus a $70 rebate on the set of four! Maybe I'm a cheap *******, but I'm loving it.

What a difference in tire, btw. I had forgotten what a stickier tire felt like. Next step is to drop in some new brake pads and then hit the track in a few weeks.

I envy you guys who live where the ambient outside temperature doesn't drop below 40F. We who live in a slightly colder winter climate, and actually get both snow and ice sometimes, cannot run sticky performance tires all year round, because at lower temperatures, they are not only dangerous but in fact illegal on many of our BC roads (You have to have at least an "M+S" rating and preferably a "snowflake" symbol on the tire sidewall to be allowed on those roads from October through March)

It gets below 40f here sometimes, too, but not much.
