It's been a long time coming, and I'm very late on the update, but I finally fulfilled a childhood dream of mine. I remember it was back in high school when AMG first released the M156 engine, and through the years I used to trace the life of the now iconic engine. I loved the hilarious novelty of shoving a giant 6.2L engine into Mercedes' entry level sedan, and after learning the heritage of the engine (variant M159 used in the SLS, both versions running with F1 powering their Safety and Medic cars, it being on of the last significant NA engines to be produced by AMG) I knew I was going to own one one day.
Well, on December 10, 2016, it happened. On an overcast day at a MB dealer in the bay area, I became the proud owner to a CPO 2013 C63 P31 with about 10K miles on the clock. Now, I live in the LA county, so I made a day's journey to come to this dealer, but the reason I chose to buy one so far from home (rather than another model I was looking at which was only about 20 miles away) were a few but rather significant reasons:
1. Super low mileage
2. CPO warranty + 3 year unlimited mile warranty
3. P31
4. LSD
5. 2013 motor, so past the whole head bolt/lifter nonsense
Now, as much as I love the car, there are a couple of things that I do feel like I'm missing out on, such as:
1. P61, and the accompanying black 19" wheels
2. Lighting package (I've since remedied this with a full Bi-xenon Morimoto retrofit)
3. AMG Performance Media
HOWEVER, they're just minor things, as I feel like most of the important things were already covered, and if not the rest are just things that can be made up for with a retrofit or a tune.
And on that note of modifying the car, here's my build thread where I'll be updating you all with all the modifications I make as well as discussions for future mods.
Thanks for dropping by, and I hope you enjoy the thread!

MBWorld Fanatic!
Congratulations, and welcome!
Love the steel grey. Its called Tenorite grey here in Canada. Thats the colour of my first one, and I still think it was the prettiest. I love the way it matches the grey on the rims.
Look forward to reading about your progress.

I see here that you plan on going with the FX-R projectors as a retrofit. Being as mine is a PFL and yours is a FL car im not sure if the projectors themselves are different. Mine were Bosch E46(E55 variant) units and they do leave a lot to be desired. For the PFL cars the FX-R is doable, but not nearly as direct as going with an EvoX-R(mine are out of Europe and are actually an "EvoX-R II"). The Evos are nearly a bolt in only needing for you to open up the mounting holes in the projectors with a step bit and then you can use the factory mounting holes in the projector bracket. If you havent spoken with them yet give TRS (the RetroFit Source) in Atlanta a call and talk to Andrew or Carlos, they should be able to tell you exactly what units are in your car currently and what will be the best fit with the least modding. If they are indeed the E46 units like mine i cannot recommend strongly enough the Evos, they have a really good lo-beam, but that hi-beam? It's like having a supernova strapped to the grill of your car!!!!
congrats on the new ride and good luck!!!
