Power Steering Failure
Hello
So the other night, I was parking up my 2010 C63 W204 (85K Km's) and as I turned the steering wheel full lock right to park, I heard a crack and then smoke from the front driver side wheel. So I got out had a look and notice some fluid had also leaked. When I got back into the car to try and park it properly noticed a complete loss of power steering. I have had the car towed and will be assessed by a MB service centre, but anyone know what the problem could be? Note - The car has been lowered and sits on 19's. I don't have a good feeling about this, especially the cost involved! :( |
I would agree with you. You have a power steering fault. I would also suggest you start looking for a second job!
Was our diagnostics spot on?? |
Steering Pump failure is a known weakness.

@Plutoe, I haven't heard back from MB Service yet, but should do this morning and I shall let you know mate.
As for the second job, hopefully my lotto numbers come in tonight :D |

Could be but could it be a seal in the R&P system? |
The MB Service centre got in touch and said it was a failure of the Pump!
And yes it's not a cheap fix!! FML |

You mind sharing what the estimate was? I just had the headbolts done and my wallet wants to know what else could be down the line. Thanks!

Chrisridebike8, I know you have been around long enough to know this, and I also that you are a guy with actual reading comprehension skills lol, and yet I can't stop myself from pointing out that those are Australian dollars, and their prices are nuts for everything.

There's a filter in the power steering reservoir.
It can be changed, by changing the reservoir itself, a $50 or so item. Bleeding the air out of the system afterwards is something to be done carefully, but not too difficult. |
