Warning - bizarre attempted hack on the forum
I just received this email from the forum:
"
Dear JimGnitecki,
Someone has tried to log into your account on MBWorld.org Forums with an incorrect password at least 5 times. This person has been prevented from attempting to login to your account for the next 15 minutes.
The person trying to log into your account had the following IP address: 85.17.24.76
All the best,
MBWorld.org Forums
"
The forum has certainly had its strange and toxic moments, but this is really bizarre. I mean, who in their right mind, knowing the animosity I have experienced on the forum from certain folks, would WANT to impersonate ME???
Anyway, you are all alerted now: someone is trying to do something on the forum, and it's almost certainly not something good.

RIPE networks that shows the netherlands allocates a lot of address space to eastern europe, so likely came out of there. Also, with the latest string of hacks over that past year, it is likely that your username and a password from a hacked site is on a dump list somewhere and being run against every login box on the internet and they maybe got lucky and got a hit on your username on the forum login and tried a password from somewhere else that no longer works, so a good reason to change your password and a better reason to use a different password on every login you have!

Looks like a pretty persistent effort. I got another email from our admin here:
