New wheels...good and bad at the same damn time
So, my new wheels came in yesterday(YAY!!!!)...Niche Misano M117(had to get black, ugh, as they have discontinued the gunmetal)
18x8 +42
18x9.5 +48
on my way to my shop to prep and spray the new wheels i have THIS crap happen
Even though it LOOKS like someone cut it with a scalpel it was a blowout.....Good thing was DiscountTireDirect overnighted me a new PAIR of rears so they will match at no charge
As for the wheels, i freaking LOVE them!!!!! In black they are just too muted and all of the detail gets lost in the darkness, but in silver? My God, they just pop....
Ive had them baking overnight in the booth so they should be good to mount this afternoon so you KNOW I'll post up some pics

Thank you Sir...
the factory paint Niche(MHT) applied was actually VERY good quality with zero defects present so all it took was about 2min per wheel with a Red 360gt pad to give the surface some bite and the silver laid out perfectly flat with 2 mist coats and then a medium coat followed by a mist coat then a fat coat of gloss clear(20min flash time between each except for 1hr flash time between color/clear)

...18x8 +42 Niche Misano M117 wheels do NOT freaking clear the front calipers on a W204 C63!!!!!!!! But the rears look AWESOME, on the bright side at least from some angles I won't look like an ABSOLUTE fool until the 15mm spacers get here on Friday, so I got that going for me

rear calipers clear by an EASY 1/4"....and I know people will jump all over this but me AND my tire guy both feel almost positive that a 295 rear would fit with ZERO issues...we pulled the rear sway bar and stuffed the wheel/tire WAY past where it could ever compress with the bar connected and at full compression it not only cleared the outer fender lip but also had nearly 5/8" on the inside....now I will say this, these 275s on the true 9.5" rim shortened the tire by almost 9/16" so with a wider tire you would also get that height back and that WOULD rub, so I'm thinking maybe a 295/30/18 could work, and he said he thought he had both a 295/30 and a 295/25 in the back so hopefully when my front spacers come in Friday we'll see about the other tire sizes fitting....and yes, I am FULLY aware that a 30, much less a 25 series tire will ride like immortal hell but at this point I'm just "sperimentin"

I just can't do black wheels, I can't I can't I can't.....but I will say that I do really like the StormTrooper look but you need a good bit more black with your white than I have.....It was actually all but a coin toss between the hyper silver (and yes they are actually hyper silver) and "more gold than bronze" bronze color....I am holding out on whether I change the color until I have the fronts on, center caps I'm redoing with black Benz star and the car is CLEAN....when it's truly "put together" I think the silver is going to win out with me though

FA. 8.0 J x 18 H2
Wheel offset: 1.77 in (45 mm)
RA. 9.0 J x 18 H2
Wheel offset: 2.13 in (54 mm)
In your case 3 mm at the front makes a big difference. Do you really need to go 15 mm (0.6") on the spacer. I would have thought 10 would be more than enough.
One thing left to do when that is sorted. Red Ceramic paint on the calipers. I like the look.

i know factory spec is 18x8 +45 and these are +42 so 3mm would seem sufficient, HOWEVER......the shape and concavity of the spokes on the Niche wheels is WAY different than the factory 18" AMG wheels...in order to have roughly the same caliper clearance as stock i need the 3mm back PLUS about 10mm as factory there is very close to 1/2" clearance.....the 15mm will hopefully get me back pretty close to the clearance MB thought that caliper needed....

It would make you nauseous how close my Vorsteiners come to the caliper. Your gap looks like a canyon in comparison lol

Ok, so spacers came in, test fit, milled to 10mm, test fit, milled to 7mm, PERFECT....then I find that with these new wheels+7mm spacer factory lug bolts are TOO DAMN SHORT!!!! ....anyway, new lug bolts came in today and wheels are on and I am STOKED!!!! I know it prolly sounds like placebo effect but I swear that my car now rides 100x smoother than it has ever ridden since I've owned it....and these wheels are 7lbs lighter EACH than the factory wheels....all things said I am MORE than satisfied.

As much as you are happy I am bummed out today. Once again ABS and ESP saved a kid but I also had to head for the curb and burned the edge of the right front. Bummer!

They do look great. You have done well. Now the voice of experience. Do not leave all the stock bolts in the garage. You will need 5 of them to bolt on the spare if you get a flat.

Here you can really see how much more tire SHOULD be on this 9.5" wheel....these tires are brand new 275/35/18s and you can see how much the contact patch has drawn in having to bridge the 9.5" gap between the beads....there is no doubt that not only would a 295 series tire sit MUCH better on this rim but also there is PLENTY of clearance between both the outer fender and all inner structure for the 295 not to have contact/clearance issues once mounted...

That is VERY interesting, especially considering this same tire completely filled the factory 9" wheel....I may need to measure the wheel width of the rims I received.....

I must admit, I was skeptical of the look in your first few test fitting pics, but now that you have them mounted with spacers, your new rims look great! Love what you did with the centre caps too. Great job!!

A lot has to do with the tire's construction too. You can see the sidewalls are indeed creating a rounded and stretched shoulder profile but it looks wide at the rim due to the built in "rim protector" near the bead. I ran 275 RE-11s for a bit on 10" rims on the front of my vette and they looked similar if memory serves. Once I went to an 11" rim up front, I was running 295 R888 so completely different construction.
