Roll cage requirements for Drag Racing

Just out of interest, what is the requirements for having to use a cage in the States.
At what speed / ET do the rules state you must fit a cage.

Some if our local racers (with purpose built cars) who have cages, are not happy about being beaten by GTR's with software etc.
So they have dug out the rule book, and our stupid rules state that at sub 12, you need a half cage.
Now they are trying to get it enforced. This basically means that everybody with a fast street car can no longer race.

Pretty sure NHRA rules state any car after 2008 can run up to 9.99 or 140mph without cage 9.99 or faster then 140mph require cage and chute
pre 2008 can run upto 11.99 if they go faster require chute and cage

I’ve never seen the roll cage rule enforced for any car that’s not in the 10’s

Thanks for the info.
11.49 and faster is the point you require a cage.
But you say they only start enforcing it on 10 second cars. It makes sense that the scrutineers use their own discretion. An old car (10 years or older) running 11's is not as safe as a brand new car running 11's

In case you've not been paying attention to the Dodge Demon ads about being banned by NHRA because they're too fast . . .

Any vehicle running 9.99-seconds or quicker at an NHRA Member Track (underline mine) needs to have certain NHRA-accepted safety equipment . . . including, but not limited to, a certified roll cage, window net, aftermarket driver restraint system, a driveshaft loop, and a master cut-off switch. It is also necessary for a driver to hold an NHRA Competition License and wear accepted clothing, including a helmet and SFI-certified jacket, pants, gloves, and a neck collar or HANS device."
