Track Decals magnetic numbers
After one experience using awful blue tape for my track day numbers, I decided to step it up to something more fitting. I love how they turned out and on a silver car the match is awesome. Highly recommended!

Car washed sporting “race mode” with its new number plates. But really posting this because of some learning. The cf intake was bugging me so I decided to really dig in and see what the problems were re fitment. Turns out, operator error. Two things contributed to poor alignment. First, I have an E85 harness that was preventing the factory air boxes from seating properly in their mounts. I spent some time tidying up the injector harness. Then tried again. Fitment was better and let me find problem two. My silicone hose was too long this pushing the cf bits too far forward. Once I cut about a quarter inch off, fitment was spot on. So, I’ll eat some crow. I rushed the initial install because I didn’t have much free time in the garage away from the kiddos. Lesson learned. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.

I had those magnetic numbers from TrackDecals earlier this year (15” version). They worked great the first use and I liked that I could remove between track days. However the second time I used them they flew off my car once I got up to 60mph or so. Great idea, but the magnets are hard to keep perfectly flat even rolled back up in the tube. When applying you have to make sure you’re doing it at a warm temp and on a warm surface or else it will never stick right again. Even then they never stuck evenly and still flew off. I have vinyl numbers now that I’ll just leave on for the entire season and replace each year if needed. My advice to you is not to remove them unless absolutely necessary, or go with a smaller magnet.

Did you ask for your money back? Prob not worth the hassle but I picked em up bc I saw other guys had em, but maybe they leave them on as you say. Thanks for the heads up.

Wasn't worth the hassle. It's just how they are, it's no fault of the company. The magnets are not very strong, and inflexible. The other thing is that the door surface needs to be spotless. If there's any dirt or grit between the magnet and the door, it's going to scratch the sht out of your paint. If any water gets in there, it's going to ruin your paint I think because of the heating etc. I had to repolish my doors after the last time, as there's also going to be a difference between what kind of wear the uncovered part sees versus the part covered by the magnet (you could see the outline where the magnet had been). Not worth ever trying again.

Got a few things accomplished this weekend. It was time to try and add a backup camera since I've got kids and dumb dogs playing in the driveway. I following the Youtube videos from that dude modding his C300 or whatever. Nothing really interesting about the install except Amazon screwed me and didn't deliver the Fakra cable I needed (delayed to today) so I wasn't able to fire it up but the physical install is mostly done. I also buttoned up another Ultra Racing piece, this time in Mars Red to go with my interior red highlight theme. I'm getting to a point where I need to stop if I really want to upgrade to a FL model sometime next year and move all the mods over. There is nothing wrong with my '09 at 67,000 miles but headbolts are out there lurking, and a P31 with CF and LSD "could" be my forever car. , but, I also am thinking of an E85 dedicated tune or a CF driveshaft next...TBD. Enjoy.

Thanks! It was a great day. Really only my second day out, with my third HPDE on 9/22. Really enjoying being able to explore the car's ability away from the street. And also really wanting a set of forged wheels for some more meat!

This one, but I found it in chrome.
When I pulled my COMMAND, I didn't even have a FAKRA cable to remove so I just got this:
Also needed one of these to prevent flickering:

Weight loss... rear discs and wheel stud conversion.
Been playing with the rear brakes. Found Celica selling his two-piece rotors. They are a remarkable 5 pounds lighter per side!
Then ordered up a wheel stud conversion from Motorsport Hardware. They have 15% off right now. Standard steel stuff. My studs are 68mm. Unfortunately they are a tad over 100 grams heavier per wheel vs the bolts. Did someone say order Ti nuts!?? Happy Thanksgiving All!!

Considering these Ti nuts, thanks for the tip BLKROKT, https://ozmoengineering.com/shop/m14...-seat-lugnuts/
but they indicate a required wheel port of 30mm, and I'm still on stock wheels, which seem to measure 28.5ish mm. Not sure if they'll fit even though the actual nut width is shown as 26mm. Maybe not enough space to get a socket on? Gamble and try em? Or not worry and hold out for a set of wheels...decisions decisions.

Titanium Nuts
Nut Stud
After finally settling on a wheel setup I was able to order the proper lug nuts. I decided on the fancy-looking Ozmo Units. As you can see, the Motorsport Hardware wheel stud conversion plus Ti Nuts does incur a small weight penalty over simple
stock lug bolts. I’ve not found a weight for the Acer Racing Ti bolts but wonder if that wouldn’t be lighter. So for a set of studs and ti nuts the addition of 380 grams...

FL CF Mirrors
I got sidetracked. I had made a list and swore I wasn't going to spend on aesthetics until performance stuff was buttoned up. But...found a pair of FL CF mirrors at a great price and so had to finally snag them and make the conversion...I love it. And also copied the black "6.3" badge swap.

amd from the Black Series badge thread. Drivers side is easy because you’re putting the numbers back where they were so if you leave a little outline after removing adhesive it’s easy to line up with tape. Passengers side is tricky because it’s reversed and the 6.3 is closer to door instead of towards the front as you’d expect reading “6.3 AMG” left to right. So for that side I just measured about where my drivers side badges were, put a top and bottom tape line over and under the original badge, removed it, cleaned, then measured off and reapplied new badges. You’ll only ever be able to view one side at a time so it really doesn’t need to be soo exact.

CF Carbon Cupholder trim
While I make some decisions about whether to do engine mounts or upper control arms first, I added some CF bling to round out the cockpit. Thanks Matt! Nicest 2 minute mod...

Despite the rain, finally snagged some NT05s in 275 to go with a set of 212 AMG wheels. I’d been reading a lot about proper rim width for the track and while I may never compete or push the car as hard as some, a properly wide rim was important. Unfortunately a nice set of Forgelines just don’t back sense on my year/mileage car. But I found a cool forum
member selling his wheels and based on this thread:
https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...tment-c63.html
all should turn out. Some images of mount, weight,
test fit. Will run them and feedback once it dries out here and I get the fronts mounted.
