New owner, Decat question?
Sorry if this has been asked before (I’ve searched but couldn’t find an answer)
I’ve just bought my first C63 2008 PP 😬, it’s had all 4 Cats removed by a previous owner. I do have the original cats which I would like to put back on. My question is, must this have had a map to delete the O2 sensors (to prevent the engine warning light etc) when the cats were originally removed? Is it a case of I can just bolt the cats back in or is there a little more involved ? (Assuming the O2 sensors are still present and working) Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the reply, I’ve dug a bit deeper and found it does indeed have a remap (although no idea which tune they’ve put on). My plan now is to chuck the cats back on and get the standard map back on unless anyone can tell me this is a bad idea / pointless?? Its currently sat idle as I’m not quite brave enough to take it out in all this snow just yet 😫

You can put the cats back on without retuning the o2 readiness monitors... h less you need to pass emissions you’ll be fine. Why do you want to put them back on? Does the car have headers ?

If it's too loud or stinks too bad, throw some 200 cell cats in. Just ordered these to tame down my catless setup.

To be honest I only want to re-nstall them to save any headache when the MOT rolls around, I’m assuming it’s not gonna pass emissions testing without them.
I would be be very interested to hear how you get on with those 200 cells once they’re installed doc

If you get these and a proper tune, you should pass a visual inspection.

Armytrix doesn't do the fake cat cans anymore unfortunately. Here's what they actually look like.
Edit: Ok, so the picture shows up when I try to edit the post but won't display in the post. Sorry...no idea what's up but it's just straight pipe now.

I'll let you know how they do sound and smell wise but they don't do any emissions testing here in SC so I can't help you on that front.

Most likely the tune has disabled some of the emission functions to prevent the check engine light coming on. You may run into issues when you do your MOT. Not sure exactly how it’s handled there, but I figured I’d mention it. I’d just throw the cats on and go back to factory map or purchase another standard tune set up for factory cats.
