EflexFuel Kit Installed
 

So got around to installing the eflexfuel kit over the weekend and wanted to give my thoughts on it. Being that this product is sold on eBay, I was a little leary, but once it arrived all fears were alleviated. Kit seems to be very good quality. Comes with one control box, 8 leads for your injectors with the proper connectors all around, as well as several different fittings for the fuel line. I ended up removing the oem braided fuel line and using the hose supplied with the kit instead of cutting it. The fittings worked perfectly and the installation was painless. Control box has Bluetooth which works great with the mobile app. Bluetooth code is 8585 for anyone interested. That doesn't come in the documentation (although the rest of the instructions were fine) for some reason. Overall impressions are good so far. Picked up 14 rwhp at 60% ethanol but my injectors are running close to 85% duty cycle so they'd probably need upgrading to run straight e85 in my case. Car feels great though...just as smooth as ever. Can't really feel the extra hp but I'm sure it'll show up at the strip this weekend. Ran 12.03@118 last weekend without it, so hoping to break into the 11's around 120.

Adapter from kit that goes from wiring harness to factory injector plug. You'll need to use a multimeter to determine which wire in the injector plug is positive as they aren't color coded. Insert the positive male lead from eflex harness into the appropriate side of the adaptor to mate with the positive side of the plug.

Ethanol sensor. Shortened the post sensor fuel line after taking this pic as it sat pretty high. Still plenty of room to tap fuel for the Zex kit going in next month though:)

All harnesses attached. Tuck your connectors under the rail in the open spaces of the manifold. I ziptied them against the outside of rail the first time and the airboxes didn't fit properly.

I haven't seen the EC kit but I can't see how it'd be much different. As far as the hookups, the 8 wire harnesses you get with the kit have a plug on one end that plugs into the control box On the other end is an injector plug just like OEM. About 3" up from that plug are two more wires with male leads. These two wires are inserted into the adapter pictured, which then plugs into the OEM injector plug. If there is a difference I would guess the EC kit comes with the leads already inserted into the adaptors. It's super easy though. Touch the black lead on the mm to a ground and put the red lead into the OEM injector plug. You'll either get -8 volts or 8 volts with key in pos 1. The positive wire is the same on all the plugs so you only have to do this once.

Just make sure you have e85 near you. Most of the places that were listed as having it in my town didn't. Finally found it about 30 min away. That's a pain. Also, for anyone with an EC tune, they won't do a flex fuel tune for you unless you buy their kit.

Nice, I have the old eflexfuel kit so it required a little more work but the new one looks good! With your new manifolds and downpipes you definitely should get bigger injectors. Also I wouldn't worry about the e85 tune from EC, it requires a reflash if you can't find e85 and are stuck putting 93 in.

Posted a thread earlier trying to find out the Bosch 550cc injector # that would work and East Coast Euro suggested looking at 0280158117 (used on E55 and others), and that they're working on harness adapters for EV6. Seems viable(as best my rookie research can determine) but haven't been able to confirm.

I'm moving forward with EC's kit when they install the ARH headers and a batch of other goodies - they have great pricing on the right Injectors alone it looks like....

The EC kit is plug and play. We have done a few installs of their kits and the clients have all been happy

What tool did you use to monitor injector duty cycle? i've been trying to figure out how to do it on my OBDLink app.

I just installed the AFD kit which is the EC kit. I don't see it on EC website anymore so I ordered straight from AFD and got in 2 days.

The AFD kit is plug and play. The only mistake you can make is using the wrong leads on the wrong injectors. The leads are all different lengths you'd have to be not paying attention to get that wrong. The only other thing I could see an inexperienced person doing is not clicking in the fuel line connectors hard enough to seat. It makes a definite click so, again this would be difficult to mess up.

There is a chain of stations in my area (Spinx) that all carry E85. The highest I see is 60% but hopefully they'll bring out the good stuff now that it's warming up.

While I'm at it, does anyone with this kit use an iPhone? If I'm running the app to see my ethanol percentage it works fine until I stop at a store or something and turn the car off. When I get back in it won't connect. I have to restart my phone to get it to connect again.

It's done through the eflex app.

Damn... the EC Flex Fuel kit comes with Proflex connect app but that only tells you ethanol content.

Pulled the trigger on the EFlexFuel.

So then with this new V2 kit at $650, what then are you getting for the extra THOUSAND dollars to AFD/Eurocharged flex fuel??
Edit: for one, the Eflex/VRP kit appears to only work on Android app...so that's not gonna help me.

I found a cricket Android phone at target on clearance for $15. No contracts since it's a prepaid phone. Just use WiFi to get your apps. I use it in the car for my eflexfuel and torque pro apps. Works great!

Just pointing out that it's $650 from vrp, but not through eflexfuel directly. Check eBay.

The AFD/EC unit can run multiple types of fuel in any blend. the eFlex/VRP unit can only do pump gas and E85 iirc.

Sorry man, I searched every device and I can't find the link to the shop with the cheap shipping. I think it was affinity or something like that but I couldn't find it with Google. I got mine from Vivid Racing because I had ordered some other items. Came super quick though....like 4 days from Taiwan....but cost $100.

what do you mean by this? If you ment running race gas with e85 I dont get why you would as ms109 is 16 dollars a gallon and would defeat the whole purpose of running e85 yo save money.

You can't use race fuels at all with the eFlex kit. Only E85 and pump.

The AFD kit can run any type of fuel in any mixture and adjust itself on the fly.
