Question about downshifting and S+

Two questions...

1. What exactly is the difference between S and S+? I can notice the difference between C and S in terms of shifting and not much else, but can't tell the different between S and S+.
2. How do you get those crackles and pops on automatic downshifts? I try as much as possible to coast to a stop, so either get the engine at a low RPM on a higher gear or the engine yelling at a high RPM on a lower gear when I lift off the gas. Do I have to hit the brakes hard to get those aggressive downshifts?

CLK63 AMG Black Series
S+ stays in gear longer and will blip the throttle on downshifts upon hard braking. supposedly quicker shifts too.

Crackes and pops are from fuel runoff. Cruise at high rpm and foot off gas = cracks and pops. To get more, remove cars.

Strong braking will will make the car downshift at higher rpms on S+, so this will produce what you want. Or just downshift yourself at a high rpm.
