Would a bad pcv valve cause oil burning?

I'm trying to decide if I need to bring the car into the dealer or not.

I moved the manifold flap in front of the engine back and forth because I felt it was not moving freely and want to rule that out first.

I'm getting some blue smoke on passenger side.its pretty bad after a few min on idle and after I rev it a little.

other than that the car runs good and no miss fires or codes

Intredasted in this too. From my armchair mechanic “research”, the oil get sucked through on decel and liftoff and gets burned on the exhaust. Would a catch can fix the symptoms a bit? Also, does this oil get sucked through cylinder walls?

skratch77 05-24-2018 12:32 PM

I ordered a new valve. Will see what happens

Celicasaur 05-24-2018 01:57 PM

Bad PCV would cause oil burning on both banks equally, no....? :nix:

yea makes sense but it plugs into the side that is slightly burning oil.

or there is some oil build up in the manifold.will see when I open her up.

I hope its nothing serious

NotABaller 05-24-2018 02:11 PM

OP good luck with the new valve and please update with results!. Also, whats your approx rate of oil consumption? Ive been filling up 1 L every 2000-3000 KM it seems (mostly driving in M without too much consideration for economy)

I run 5w40 8100 and honestly I dont need to top it off.i say maybe a half bottle by 3k miles.the car just started doing this a few days ago so I'm sure I'll have to add more now

skratch77 05-24-2018 11:14 PM

I got the manifold off the car.lots of oil on the side that is burning it.

doing injectors and maybe get some spacers. I have a new pcv valve on the way.

I mean it's not that hard.if your going to do it you might as well buy new fuel injectors and gaskets.

my injectors were really bad

Make sure you open up the manifold and clean it up also.

when you open the manifold what do you use to reseal it or do they sell a gasket kit.

There is one rubber gasket around the throttle bodies but it pretty heavy duty so I'm not changing it.

you will need new gaskets that go on the engine block between the manifold tho.

here is a video of the inside.

I've replaced my IM Gasket before, I was just wasn't sure about the gasket in the IM. Are you planning on hot tanking the IM, if not how do you plan on cleaning it?

I spent about an hour wiping it down with rags and let it sit for a day to let all the oil drip out the runners

Hey, I know this thread is 2 years old but did the new PCV fix the issue? I’m have the same issue but when I accelerate from a stop light blue smoke comes out. And I’m leaking oil from the passenger side so maybe it’s my PCV.

Yes it will help but you definitely need to clean your intake manifold out and install a catch can.

I would also check your oil level and make sure you don't have to much oil in the car.

Thanks, I’m haven’t lost any oil for the past week from looking at oil dipstick. Even though I see small oil spots under the car. My oil dipstick is showing a oil little the top red bump so maybe there’s to much in there...

Hello I am having oil consumption issues! Well I think. First 600 miles 1L. Then it said add 1L after 300 Milea, then this last time it said add 1L after 120 miles. Drive it straight home from the office and let it sit. It said 'Oil Level Ok'. The. Next day I went to the on board computer and it says Add 2L. Without any driving.

The vehicle runs great with no lack of power. I ordered a new sensor on the way but it could also be the PCV Valve. But where can I buy one? i cannot find anywhere.

Slow_c63 09-19-2021 02:38 PM

roadkillrob 09-19-2021 04:06 PM

karlward 09-19-2021 04:07 PM

Would someone be able to send me the link? I cannot find on FCP. w211 2005 E55 AMG.

It keeps saying item not found.

hachiroku 09-20-2021 09:49 PM

you're on the wrong forum. this thread is for the M156 engine not the M113k.
