Accelerating from HOLD seems to have no lag at all
Hi guys,
Searched internet about it, and got nothing. Really do not know if Is it an obvious info for everyone...
We all know electronic accelerator has an input lag (for n reasons, including safety and avoid tire burning).
We also know those "Pedal Box" and other products which change the acceleration response, changes the curve, but actualy does NOTHING to eliminate the initial response lag when accelerating from full stop (not touching the gas pedal)
But when weīre stopped using the HOLD feature (deep press the break pedal until HOLD shows up, so you can release the break and the car keeps on hold, breakes on), the gas pedal will then be lag free, as if it was "active"... you press it and it goes immediately (W204 P31 C63), specially on 1st gear. No lag at all to start accelerating (and no lag at all to release the breakes). The difference is really perceivable when comparing it to a situation where you are accelerating after releasing the break pedal.
As I said, I donīt know if Is it an obvious info for everyone...

Itīs not easy no notice the lag when you go easy with the pedal, in a smooth curve... agressive initial acceleration is way more prone to the lag (itīs easy to check the lag even full stopped in P... simply quickly full press the accelerator... an old regular steel cable accelerator would pump a lot of gas and the engine would scream. Nothing happens with an electronic accelerator, it simply ignores this peak, it remaps to a smooth curve.

This lag that you speak of is a known trait of the MCT that nobody has been able to overcome.
Accelerating off of the hold feature doesn't eliminate the lag. If this were true, we'd have a whole host of 10-second C63 (M156) and E63 (M157) cars.
Your point about the electronic throttle vs cable throttle has absolutely nothing to do with this lag. It annoys me too, but there isn't a solution to it that the community is aware of yet.

Anyone running 1/4 mile times should be brake boosting anyway, and then it’s a totally irrelevant point.
