Hi fellas.
Just wanted a bit of help on the offset on some wheels for track work. The size i'm after is 18x8.5 Front and 18x9.5 rear.
Thanks.

I'd go with a 9" wide ET40 front and 10" wide ET50 rear. For the weight of the car, 8.5" & 9.5" rims are on the narrow side even for OEM sized stickier tires.

Anytime. More discussion here, albeit about a 19" setup: https://mbworld.org/forums/c63-amg-w...elp-gurus.html

OP, did you turn up any manufacturers that make 18" forged wheels in the above recommended sizes? I'm starting a track wheel wish list myself after having just returned from another track day and am beginning the research. Staying 18", is preferable I think.

For what it’s worth, 18” is great for the extra sidewall and lower weight vs a 19”. But if you get hooked, you’re soon going to realize that the brakes aren’t up to par for serious track duty. And the BBK doesn’t fit inside 18” rims. Something to think about before you throw down good $ on 18” forged wheels.

Thanks man, I think that's the crux of the decisions I have to make. Being honest with myself, I'm never going to be in a position to take this car where you've gone. At best, I'd like to hit maybe 4-5 days a year. I've got two in the bag, and one planned for the end of September. Serious track duty probably not in the cards, wife, two boys, etc. Besides that, a brake AND wheel upgrade would cost practically half what I paid for the entire car LOL. Anyways, I've often heard it said in racing that the first benchmark is to be faster than your teammate. In my case, my teammate is my little bro with a FBO E46 M3. He was faster through the tighter stuff at Laguna the other day, and I couldn't get the power down out of the hairpins. It's probably gonna be 18 inchers for me!

CCW or Forgeline are pretty much your only two options for track wheels.
FYI, the teammate comparison is applicable only when you're both using the same equipment, i.e. the same car. An E46 M3 will beat a C63 hands-down on any track. And, unless you have 335 section rear tires, you'll never be able to put down the power on a 4000+ lb porker.

Yeah good points! OP, not meaning to jack your thread, but I discovered perhaps a budget way by going to the 212 AMG wheels. Looks like that will allow 255s and 275s.

No worries mate. More heads are better than one.
I will be looking into some Rays TE37 superlap to see if they make it for the Merc.
Other than that I will look at other options like a 3piece setup which is decent enough but wont break the bank.
