Which car? Value question

I'm looking at two at the moment, both same price

A) 2012 with 40k miles and MB warranty until next spring. All options except P31 and LSD

B) 2012 with 60k miles and all options including P31 and LSD, but no warranty.

I'm curious which way you guys would lean.

Opinions vary on the P31 package, but the LSD is worth it.

Personally, I like B because you can get modding right away (just set aside some cash for repairs just in case) it's got the P31 pack goodies, it's got the LSD.

2 must have options are the P31 & LSD so I’d go with B

Agree with other posters, B is way better value. PP + LSD was like 10k when new. It's still about 5k if you depreciate it with the car.

B for sure. The LSD and P31 is worth the "risk" of no warranty.

B. the C63 should be pretty bulletproof, especially facelift cars.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured it'd be closer w/ opportunities for a tune/LSD.

I personally like A.

20k fewer miles and warranty.

The P31 pack never had MUST HAVE options if you are going to add your own CF and your own Tune.

The LSD is a 1.5k-2k add on for aftermarket.

I think the 20k mile difference and warranty safety is worth more than the $3-4k you'd put into matching spec B

To match Spec B you’d have to also take apart the engine and install lighter forged pistons, rods (debatable according to Tasos) and crankshaft (also debatable).

To even feel the difference from this and to squeeze every ounce out of it you would need to be tracking like crazy and recording times, then on top of that factoring in other mods and thier contributions, not to mention driver. If its a strength thing, like you said, it's debatable. For the arverage driver (whatever average means) 20K in miles and warranty is more benificial and you can always add LSD later and tune.

Well I’d rather have the better P31 engine internals, tune and LSD over 20k miles. And I probably do see a difference on track. It’s bulletproof.

Car is barely even broken in at 40k. And as for a warranty on a FL car, never used mine like most others. Although I totally understand wanting one on a used car with unknown history.

Different strokes for different folks. I’d rather have the better engine. Others would rather have a newer one. Depends on what your intended end use is. Flip a coin.

Better option would be to find a P31 car with LSD and warranty. Or buy an aftermarket warranty on the Spec B car.

A lower miles and warranty. You can always add LSD for short money and still have 20,000 less miles.

You dont need the forged pistons but would consider this option if you plan on superchargering car but the regular pistons would be fine as well.

Car with 40k probably has no service done yet.

engine flush
brake flush
diff flush
tranny flush

Try to get records on both cars.the one with 60k might have a bunch done but might need brakes

Thanks everyone. I decided to go with option "A", largely due to the fact that this will be my DD during the nicer months.

WTF? What was the point of creating this thread. You got an overwhelming amount of votes in favor of the p31 then you go and buy the inferior car. P31, LSD, Lighting Pack, and media pack are the big 4 options. You guys are funny as hell.

I was curious what everyone else would buy. I imagine there are many people using these in different ways.....DD, weekend toy, etc.

Yeah, I was very shocked when he went with A over B after the amount of people favoring the more obvious choice of B. Seems like OP had his mind set on A before making the thread. But, at the end of the day it's OP's money.

I believe both cars had the lighting pack and media pack as OP states both cars have “all options”.

I use my P31, LSD, fully loaded C63 as my DD. From what I hear about these cars, a LSD is a game changer for the C63. I voted for B, mainly for the P31 pkg as you could swap in an LSD if the car didn’t have it... but congrats on the purchase.

Thanks, I'm curious how many miles you do a year? Part of my decision is that the p31 had some mods that I didn't want, especially as a DD.
