"What did you do your C63 today"

Hey Everyone,

Most other forums I'm on have a thread like this where we share what we've done to our cars. I searched and didn't see this thread started yet! Anything can be posted. From maintenance, washing the car or even mentioning that you went on a spirited run today. Pictures with your post are even better :)

I'll start. Stored my car for winter!

Umm, I drove to Bojangles and got a biscuit?

SuckaGDog 11-15-2018 10:34 AM

Obviously didn’t search hard enough. ;)

How can you live that way??? I can't imagine having a car that I can't drive say, what, 4 months out of the year?? I guess in Toronto it's part of the lifestyle and you're used to it, but when I saw your post it made me think about putting my car away like that, and I just couldn't get my head around it. So props to you for taking care of your machine. Winter is Coming!

I drove it to work. It's been sitting in the garage since it's for sale. Today is our 6 year anniversary :) I couldn't NOT drive it on our anniversary. Selling it is like rehoming a pet. I want to make sure she goes to a good home.

INS1GNIA 11-15-2018 11:54 AM

It's been sitting in the garage for a while, due to the amazingly shi**y off and on weather here in Kansas.

But I got to drive it today and that was nice. Good thing about cold weather, the car always sounds meaner.

The M156 sounds amazing all the time, but in winter time, holy cow it sounds extra amazing with all the pops crackles.

Definitely used to it! It's more so because I don't want salt stains on the carpet! A good set of winter tires and RWD becomes enjoyable in the snow.

Here's my c63 with my winter/daily beater

Looks menacing! This morning I wanted to see if my car would be more "musical" in the cockpit if I removed all the trunk trim. I had previously used the "seat down" method for enjoying the symphony.
Top Tip: Your car is louder without all the trunk trim...LOL. And even a few pounds lighter.

Ahh groceries. So for me this started out gradually. Did 4 track days this my first year of ownership. Watched what other DD guys were doing with their cars etc. Obviously the first thing to come out was the whole spare tire and donut and gear. Had that out for a while, then said well WTF, I have this big empty storage space under the hard floor, so threw out the floor. Turns out a collapsible cargo organizer fits in there nicely, so that's where I was at. Then, decided this morning to remove the rest of the trim on the trunk itself. So it looks sort of ridiculous but hey, it's a trunk...The side panels actually appears to be one big connected piece. I haven't removed that. That might be the line I don't cross if there's a bunch of **** behind there that could get injured etc. Next up is the lightweight battery. The rear is definitely lighter, probably not ideal. I'm toying with the Tillett seats up front and then maybe that would necessitate corner balancing the car for track days next spring.

The carpet could be overkill but the spare I get it. The carpet would be the same as wearing underwear or not wearing underwear to save wieght. Won't make a difference.

Agree in part and disagree in part. Honestly it was just to see how much more sound I'd get from the exhaust by stripping it. Also, all ounces count in my opinion. There's plenty of low-hanging fruit to eliminate for weight savings. For example, my latest project...stock rear rotor vs the two-piece...

Brakes are an excellent mod for wieght reduction. Rotational wieght at the wheels. Like your thoughts!
Honestly, I believe that some of the heaviest things are the seats, the spare, the wheels, and hood.

Crya 11-16-2018 01:25 PM

Yep, gotta lose that heavy hood at some point, and wheels are on my list, and on and on...

Savage-wp 11-17-2018 07:24 AM

Wow, 2.3kg weight saving per disc. That is a fair amount.

You ever have one of those days where **** just doesn't go your way? This is a "what I didn't do today". What I didn't do was get to install my rear two-piece rotors cause they just didn't fit. I was duty-bound to return to sender, and that cost a few bucks. Then, with OEDiscountparts being down and Tracy not returning emails, I ordered from some other site. I needed a center A/C vent. I had the part number. The guy checks my VIN and says it's wrong and to order what he recommends. It comes. It's wrong. Mine was right. WTF man. So now I need to exchange that. Then I'd picked up a new floor jack, couldn't do the Costco one, so got a low-pro long-reach from Harbor Freight. I get it home and one of the casters is busted and wheel won't roll. Spend another 1.5 hours on the road to make the exchange. Get home, get under car with new jack, lack confidence to unbolt bars to install new Ultra Racing units. Lower car back down. Run out to do an errand. Run into mailman at the mailbox. He's got my Ti nuts from Ozmo Engineering but the package says Postage Due to the tune of $18 and I don't have a $20 in my pocket to pay mailman. Says I have to go to PO on Monday. WTF? Ozmo must have run out of pre-paid funds or something. I didn't ask for one-day service and they are literally less than 100 miles aways. At least it's date night. 4:30 Baby sitter flakes. FML...
Thanks for letting me whine. ;)

Finally got around to swapping out the lenses as the weather was perfect this weekend. Now she's back under cover with the trickle charger going.
