Trans question! yet again

Yesterday was the first time i reall got to driving the car and really do not like how these trans act/ shifts... so much i may have to get a tune for the trans or possibly ship this car and find something else.
the trans is not quick at shifting and acts like a manuel downshifting when coasting decreasing speed- is this normal? It also seema that the trans will only shift "quick" when putting the pedal to the floor. Is this all above characteristics of these trans? Aside from that, the car has pretty good power amd handles good. Thanks!

I mean yeah, it can feel like a manual transmission sometimes, because it's more similar to that than a standard torque converter I guess I'm not fully sure what you mean by that, though. What do you mean by slow shifting though? Like how slow, and is it upshifting or downshifting?

A TCU tune and a valve body upgrade can definitely sharpen things up, though. I'd look at Weistec, they have both and come highly recommended by many.

When i try out the paddle shifting- it does not shift right away when pulling in the up or down paddle, takes a second or so. When in drive, the trans just doesn't shift quickly unless you floor it practically.

I find it shifts pretty quick for me, I dunno, I usually keep in in Sport+ anyway. And what do you mean in drive it doesnt shift quick enough? Is it supposed to be constantly changing gears with the slightest throttle modulation or something?

Ahh i guess i need to try it in s+ mode.. i only drove it in s mode. Yes basically the car doesn't feel like much unless you floor it- meaning power and trans shifting.

If you are using the paddles on the wheel put the car in m mode.

That's interesting. Didn't you get a chance to test drive the car with that seller? I mean, when I got mine from a private seller he really encouraged me to explore all the shifting, fast, slow driving etc. Mine's '09 so yeah I knew I was getting a full auto. Best dual-clutch I've driven is an Audi (never been in a Porsche) but this isn't that. I dunno man, you also say the power is only "pretty good"? Sounds like either the car isn't performing or maybe your expectations are out of line with the car's abilities??

The car is fine. It was well taken care of and doesn't show a sign of abuse. It's just the way the car is I think. With the research I have done, people spoke highly of the c63 being as animal- it's certainly not a race car and is quick but just thought it would have more power and pick up so to speak. Now, I know nothing about these cars other than the research I have done and maybe I need to operate the car in M and use the paddles that way and have more realistic outlook on a four door sedan. Certainly not bashing the car just making sure these are the characteristics of the thing.

If you aren't using the paddles in M that's why it's so slow to shift...

Understand. Forgive my ignorance then lol

It's a 4000 lb car with ~500 hp. I'm not sure what your expectations are but those numbers add up to a quick car, not supercar fast. That being said, it's a ton of fun to drive and mostly faster than anything in its class (Audi 4 series, BMW 3/4, Lexus IS etc.). It handles OK for a street car but it's heavy and under tired. Again, depends on expectations. I'd rather drive this than any of the competition though because the overall package is hard to beat.

Drive it for a year and sell it to me next year LOL...

You still located in Harford County? I live in Bel Air and bought a 2012 P31 a couple months ago. If you want you can take a ride in my car to see if it feels the same. I'm coming from a DCT M3 and the C63 does not have the most ideal transmission.

Oh awesome pal. I'll be back in town next week. I'd love to drive your car to see the difference, u can drive mine as well. I live in forest hill by rocks state park. Pm me!

I am also a new owner and at first I was banging the rev limiter because I was shifting with paddles at 6500-7000 and it would take some time to register (hence the hard nudge at the time of shifting). But if you shift earlier around 6000 you will hit redline and the car will be smooth. Took me a couple drives to get the hang of it but it is no dct or pdk for sure where you tap up/down it does it immediately. But once you get the hang of it all of that will be out the door.

I only use paddles in M mode. I don't use paddles in S+

Guys question. A guy selling a C63 didn't do a transmission oil change since he got it and its a 2012 with 88,000 miles on it. I drove the car, it shifted great, quick and smooth, should I just do a tranny flush ASAP or run away? I know that in normal AT with a torque converter if the transmission oil hasn't been changed the oil becomes thick due to the heat and the tiny shards of metal that is due the wear and tear over time, if the transmission's oil is changed it starts to slip and basically needs a rebuild. I know that MCT has wet clutch packs, will changing the oil simply resolve it or should I run away even if it is shifting smooth and fast?
