Factory Warranty ending, should I buy an extended warranty?
 

Have a 2014 C63 Coupe 33k. Purchased 6 mo ago with 31K. Don't drive my car hard and don't expect to put more than 5-6k a year. I've been offered 2/75 $4900, 2/100 $5300, 3/75 $5900, 3/100 $6300. Seems steep. Anyone can recommend where I can get a better price or should I just save my money for upcoming repairs? It's a gamble not having a warranty but $5k for 2 years is a lot. Thx for you options and input.

Got my quote from a trusted vender on this forum and he says it's because it's a C63. @AMGonFire did you buy your warranty direct or through a dealer? Do you have a point of contact where you bought your warranty?

I spent $5,700 fixing a list of small items in 2018. ESP chip, gasket, fuel sender, etc. However, my car is a 2011 with 59k miles.

Personally, I roll the dice. But these cars aren't bulletproof, they have known issues. My indy has done a gasket on every five year old M156 he has seen. Many have seen the ESP chip issue. I don't think miles bother the car as much as heat cycles. If I were you, I wouldn't get a two year warranty. I'd get a three or four year warranty or just save my cash. The car was rock solid for the first five years.

I bought 3 years, 36,000 miles fully transferable, full mechanic warranty through Safe-guard for $2,600. $250 deductible when I purchased my C63 Back Series. (20,000 miles) No brainer at that price IMO. I just used it last week and got new motor mounts and couple other small things that just about paid for itself and I still have 2 more years and 24,000 miles left.

Just found out a lot of these third party warranties don't cover California. CarChex had the best review, but doesn't cover a C63 but will other 63 models, weird. Can't find a number to get quote from Fidelity, might have to go to a small dealer to buy

Hey murica. Why would you buy a c63 and not drive it hard? If you were planning on puzzyfooting it why didn't you just buy a regular C class? Just curious.

FWIW I just went through the same exercise. Got quotes on my 2014 C63 coupe w/26,000 miles up to $8,000. I finally found Infinite Auto Protection and got 5/60 warranty on her for $3,152 -- covers everything but fluids, brakes, and emissions. I went with no warranty for 6 months and for me it's just worth it to sleep better and drive it like I want to.

Finally purchased a warranty through Infinite Auto Protection. Thanks to Bonesxxx, I've received the same coverage. They have good reviews not like most third parties and cover California. They are also their own administrator so don't have to chase another company to pay for invoices. Jeff Jackson prices are good for dealer warranty plus my local dealer was about 30% more. My service advisor at the dealership said my C63 year was super reliable and not really in need of a warranty but never know. Better to be safe than sorry. He pulled the history on my car and there only has been 1 failure, servo motor in steering column and the rest was interior trim related. Thanks everyone for the help and will update everyone once I get some claims, so we can keep track of Infinite policy coverage.

Good info - submitted a quote request for my 2010 C63. We'll see what they come back with.

Never buy warranty. Why would companies exist to sell these products unless they are making money off it? Who are they making money off of?

The only time I'd buy it is if they think your car is a normal c250, aka the company made a mistake in the valuations.

It's a roll of the dice to be sure... but I like sleeping so...

IN my opinion, the only rational time to buy (optional) warranty/insurance is to insure against a financially intolerable outcome, such as your house burning down.

Everyone that owns a c63 should be able to tolerate repairs. Save your money!

I bought one that has already paid for itself, has 20,000 miles and 24 months left, and is fully transferable which will make for a great selling point when and if I sell. $2600 for a 3 year bumper to warranty on a Black Series car is a no brainer IMO, but your mileage may vary....

Was about to roll the dice with no warranty, but I' couldn't sleep well. All my Porsche Turbo's through the years had no warranty. Only a 996 Turbo had some repairs during first year of ownership, but think it was due to it's super low mile car and age. All the rubber and seals started to harden or deteriorate from lack of driving. I've never bought a third party or extended warranty so was a bit skeptical on their service and payout. My wife 2015 Lexus RX350 was a CPO w/third party tire warranty and dealer near me at first would not honor the warranty. Was not till I called the GM at purchasing dealership to call GM at repairing dealership that they honored the warranty. Will drive the car more and I'm sure will get some repairs and will give a honest opinion on Infinite.

@SactownP31, life and family gets in the way sometimes plus I have to move 2 cars to get to my C63, lazy :(.

Will aftermarket warranties cover you if you're FBO?

Wow, this is a really bad take. Do insurance companies make money? Of course. Do they save some people TONS of money? Absolutely. The reason you buy insurance is to mitigate the risk of a devastating bill. They make a little money off of a lot of people, and lose a lot of money on others.
