"Replace brake pads" on dashboard, how do I know if it is rear or front?

Hello,

Is there an "electronic" way to know which pads need to be replaced, without fancy scanner?

Thanks!

I use an eyeball and a flashlight.

you should be able to spot pad thickness if you look its fairly easy with multi piston brakes like our cars have.

Which eyeball?

Most auto part stores sell a small plastic brake pad measuring tools that you can buy.
This tool has prongs that are Green, Yellow and Red that measure the pad thickness accordingly.
If its Green your good to go, Yellow your good for now, but will require attention in a little while, Red needs changing right away.

Dang, I haven't been to a LIMB clinic to get my augmentations updated. I'm sure I'll need a recalibration, I'll have to check if I have some praxis laying around.

If you get that reference that's +10 points.

9 times out of 10, it's your front pads, as 70-75% of the braking force is done by the front brakes, as they wear faster than the rears. Put a complete check of the the brake pads are warranted.

Unless you are a lead foot with the traction control on, then it uses the rears to stop the tires from spinning and will wear the rears pretty quick, but in normal driving your fronts are doing all the work most of the time.

I completely forgotten about that fact, thank you.
