Opinion on 507 Sedan price??

I am looking at getting another AMG again, really miss the car so there is a 507 for sale at a dealer near me. Just over 30k miles, white exterior, designo black interior, well-optioned but the dealer is asking $54k for it. Based on the few I have seen for sale on here by other forum members, that price seems steep to me. Just wanted to get some opinions from the council of wise AMGers here. It is recently listed and the dealer has no pictures up yet. Here's a bit of information. I have not requested the data card from Valvestud yet.

2014 MERCEDES BENZ C 63 AMG EDITION 507 ** ORIGINAL MSRP $85465 ** EDITION 507 PACKAGE $9750 ** NAPPA LEATHER PACKAGE $3090 ** LIGHTING PACKAGE $1390 ** MULTIMEDIA PACKAGE $2860 ** LIMITED SLIP DIFFERENTIAL ** DESIGNO BLACK NAPPA LEATHER ** AMG ILLUMINATED DOOR SILLS ** INTELLIGENT HIGH BEAM CONTROL ** AMG BLACK EDITION HOOD ** 19 PERFORMANCE AMG WHEELS **

TIA

That sounds about $10k too high. Here are some comparable mileage examples...The Magno one below is particularly nice, although I'm biased

pbaylog thanks for the input. I spoke to the "sales manager" at the dealer. I did not mention it is a 4 dr car, but they are playing the game of, not many for sale, desirable car, etc, etc to jack up the price. According to him, they turned down an offer of $48k for it. I understand that doesn't mean anything but the car has only been listed for 3 days and they are in a pricier ZIP code so they are sitting an waiting for someone who will play that price or damn close to it.

FYI there’s a silver 507 coupe w 28k miles at CarMax for $43k

Why aren't you loving your car? I recall you got it maybe 6 months ago?

507matteg 05-14-2019 04:10 PM

My business is changing and got a client that is now having me travel all week long... its going to be like this for a few years now... business comes first- car will just sit in my shop... i dont want to sell it, car is perfect and my dream car but its gotta go if its going to sit that long.. heck i am even buying another home closer to the customer if that tells you something. I literally just spend over 2k on it- full maintenance from pcv to spakr plugs all fluids , intake manifold gaskets(just did it for peace of mind especially after reading on here)etc . just being proactive so i can enjoy it with no worries.. well.. cant even do that now.. its ready to rock.

roadkillrob 05-14-2019 07:28 PM

I would agree almost 10k high, I paid 48k 17 months ago for basically the same car, sedan which does bring a little more money as they are much harder to find, 30k miles, loaded, has all the same options as that one and a couple more, MSPR was a little higher.

I would keep looking dealers always want to scare you into LAST CAR ON EATH ,maybe check out the car from the forum member
his car looks nice

^ This x100!!! A 507 sedan is rare. A 507 sedan in magno platinum grey is even rarer. All that AND from a forum member? Seems like a no brainer to me :nix:

I agree man. Speaking to the sales guy yesterday, he seemed standoffish by my very pointed questions, one of which being what is so special about this car that your asking such a high price well above comparisons and historical sales within the last year? deflected the answer. Basically, the dealer is in a ritzy area and someone who has the money chances are will walk in there and pay close to that if not what they are asking for.

You can get used 2016 C63S in that price range.

I spoke to him yesterday and I definitely would prefer to buy from a forum member, but in my situation, I have lease Audi I would have to get rid of and I can't do both cars at the same time. So I need to take care of the lease situation to buy from private seller. First world problems.

I have one of those dealers near me too. Until you actually make an offer to them, they aren't playing with you. Aside from our little forum which is like a small fraction of enthusiasts I'd wager, my view is the dealer has a formula for how to move these pre-owned cars. They sit for x amount of time, then prices are adjusted. You mentioned it had been there only 3 days. Well, go back in 30 days and then make an offer. They'll soon see that there's actually not that many buyers out there who can make sense of paying that much for the "old" C63 when a person who could pay that price, presumably could also just as easily throw a few more at it for a super clean C63 S. And yeah, dude, you need to buy that Magno sedan he's offering you for 46. That thing is my dream. Keep it here on the forum so I can track you down and buy it later!

See if you can negotiate a right of first refusal. Put it in a one page contract. Agree to a choice of law provision in case things go sideways, Send money or whatever consideration is used to purchase the right, and then hustle that Audi off to Carmax. Don't look back.

EDIT-That's not legal advice. That's a suggestion. :)

The one at the dealer is Polar White which is my preferred color, but closely behind is the Magno grey. He sent me pictures and the car is sharp! I will look into what you mentioned, "right of first refusal" not very familiar with that and will see how it goes. I doubt the car will last 30 days there but it sure would be nice if it did.

FWIW
I just finished a deal on a polar white coupe with every option including, the car is a garage queen MINT!!, I'm gonna spend ~$1000 if not more doing a clear bra and ceramic right when I get it.

Blind spot assist
lane assist
Parktronic
DISTRONIC!!
LSD
AMG MultiMedia package (RARE!)
Power Passenger Seat
Carbon interior package
Power Folding Mirrors

23K miles -> $44,500 + Taxes/fees

So I think the $54 is WAY high
I WANTED 507matteg REALLY bad, however, I moreso wanted a coupe, interior carbon package, AMG multimedia center, and the distronic was a plus

Damn nice snag! Here’s another example similarly priced and this is Silicon Valley even:

Just as good - BEAUTIFUL interior
No parktronic or Distronic or carbon fiber which were bonuses
A bit higher miles.... This one could be negotiable to about 41-42.... Especially if he's moving

This now begs the question, is a 4dr pricier? I'm not referring to the list price on this one but I think in general, the sedans fetch a little more than similarly equipped coupes, maybe by another $1k or so. Sales seem to support it. The dealer has lowered the price already by $1500 down to $52,437. The Dealer is playing the odds based on their zip code, but buyers of this type of car are usually very astute about pricing.

toosteeley 05-21-2019 11:18 AM

IMO yes, 507 sedans should fetch a bit more $$ simply based on being more rare than coupes.

Conv_GSDriver 05-21-2019 02:28 PM

The other dilemma is there is a 2016 C63S CPO in my area with just over 15k miles. for slightly higher than what the other dealer is asking for the 507, granted the 507 price is well above where it should be in this case.
