But after seeing this post, I have a new optimistic expectation that none of that may be necessary!!! Hallelujah!! I’m guessing using the curved end of my plastic upholstery tools will do the job nicely here!
So down to Miami I might drive to pickup the New Windshield (don’t we all wish they still were making the UV resisting windshields?) and have safelight come by with their suction cups, piano wire and sealant to do the install. It certainly will be cheaper than having the Dealership do it!!!
Have any of you that have done this and installed some UV resistant 90% Tint while the windshield was being suspended on the table to avoid getting water behind the dashboard? My idea is to lay thin foam on a table I have in the garage and support it on each side by larger blocks of foam, but I’m not sure if I would be able to apply enough pressure on the film with the stiff squeegee doing it this way. I’m also a little concerned the window might bust attempting to do install the film this way? Can I gently squeegee, so to speak, and then use the heat gun to shrink all the fingers. The more I think about trying to keep the window stable while attempting to do this, the more I seem to answer my own question, don’t even think about it! But you never know?
