Replacing pulleys

I'm going to replace the pulleys on my 2014. How long should this job take? Any gotchas getting the fan tray out? Do I need to move the power still fluid container?

easy job buddy, did mine 2 months ago whilst replacing the radiator as a 'while I am in there' job, allow an hour to do the pulleys, fan is just clips and wiring harness toward the bottom of the shroud, no need to remove power steering resevoir.

completed job

Agreed, pretty easy, you can do it with the fan on but it is easier and probably faster just to take it out, worst part is getting the pulley covers off the pulleys that have them when the fan is in, otherwise it is a breeze,

Thanks for the input guys! I just did my injectors this weekend. Took me 2.5 hours with 45 minutes talking my neighbor who has an E63 (M156). He stopped by when he saw I had the hood up. Our wives think we're idiots.

Pretty straight forward install, I did my UPD underdrive crank pulley while I was in there. Definitely remove the fan before attempting the install.

remove the fan...don't need to touch power steering.

whole job should take less than 2 hours. if you've done it before, you could get it done in 30-45 min.

Mine seemed fine after ~120k kms. Replaced with billet pulleys for my peace of mind whilst my engine was having some work done.

i've blow up my factory pulley's at 15k...i drive hard.

i've seized up the bearings of aftermarket pulley's at 30k...they use subpar bearings and aren't meant to handle the RPM ranges of our high reving V8.

some have gone 100k without failure with their pulleys...they probably have never gave it more than 30% throttle.

Very easy. An hour tops. Even torqued them.
I left my fan in, and suggest doing the same.
Why add extra steps?

I'm at 70k on my C63. One of my pulleys seized on my C32 and caused a bunch of other problems. Figured I'd do this before one locks up on me. It's hot here and I get on it.

You the original owner? Freak of nature if your OEM bearings lasted that long.

Nope, from what i can tell im the third.
The two previous owners were very elderly gentleman.
From the service records, it seems like the the injectors weren't changed either until i had them done at the same time as the pulleys.

Is it correct to assume these kits from FCP Euro have everything one needs to freshen pulleys? Any difference between the Hutchinson and Gates kits, or is there another supplier that has superior quality? Weistec does billet aluminum ones, not sure if that is necessary for a car that will remain stock.

Gates is OEM, Hutchinson is just a good. Looks like Gates is cheaper, go with Gates.
