Cold MCT in C-mode + hill = clutch slippage?

Backing out of my garage onto the driveway, I end up nose up at a 25° angle. When the temp is 35°F or below, the trans will slip in C as I try and pull away slowly. S-mode almost completely gets rid of any slippage. Since I've never noticed any slipping under load and it doesn't do this when it's warmer out, is this just a typical cold clutch pack?

Possibly. The thing to know is that the old 7-MCT starts in 2nd gear when in Comfort mode, so there's naturally a lot of slippage. Sport mode and up starts in 1st gear. It's possible that your clutch pack has worn out from all the 2nd gear starts. That approach never sat well with me for the 7-MCT. Always felt there was way too much slippage required at all times due to this. Fortunately, AMG eventually agreed and changed this with the 9-speed MCT, which now always starts in 1st, regardless of the drive mode.

No slippage in "C" mode . Just feels like it do to the gear ratio being not as steep.
Very cold weather almost always gives a different feeling until a few shifts down the road. Torque converter cars are the same as well.
Again we are talking "cold" temps......

There's always slippage in a clutch from a standstill. That's how a clutch works. It slips until the output speed matches the input speed. The taller the gear, the longer the slippage. Those who have ever driven a manual transmission are familiar with this. Taking off in 2nd gear requires letting the clutch slip longer to avoid stalling the engine.

2014 E63S; AMS 100 octane ECU dyno tune; EDOK TCU tune; BB intakes; sprintbooster
My 2014 e63 slips when reversing on an incline then into drive it'll still roll back until it's warmed up; cold start only and C mode - same as OP; has been like this for years (owned it since new) and 46k miles on it

Yes you are correct. I should have been more clear but thought he was refering to the 2nd gear clutch "pack" slipping.
But starting in 2nd gear does exagerate the slip in the stall speed of the converter or a MCT setup.
