MB is milking the AMG brand as much as they can. Everything is AMG line this AMG line that now. It's gotten to the point where I've seen people refer to their AMG line C300 as an AMG.

Over exploitation turned into brand dilution.

Exactly. The W205 C43 was perfect for what it was and it hit all the sweet spots. It was a good value proposition. Similar to BMW’s M340 today.

AMG
w205 was not an AMG, it had MB engine with small tweeks. W206 is a real AMG and some might actually prefer it.
What do you guys get out from hanging out at a forum for the car you don't have, never have driven, not planning to get and in general exceptionally bad?

Because now there's a gap in between an anemic base engine/base model and full fat AMG that comes with a complex drivetrain and unknown reliability beyond a lease.

I'll need to replace my GLC43 at some point, but nothing fits the bill. Definitely will not be anything with a real or fake AMG I4 hybrid engine.

So you won't stop at this forum, here are more 'fake hybrid' engine cars: Ferrari 296, P Panamera, McLaren Artura, soon followed by 911, M5.
F1 cars are even more fake of course

The only practical path to acquisition is a lease. No way you would want to own one of these appliances past warranty. Something is bound to go wrong. There are roughly 30 different AMG models in production, not too exclusive anymore.

Take a look at an X3 M40i, great engine and drivetrain. BMW nailed it with the six.

Should have been phrased fake or real. By real or fake hybrid engine, I was referring to Mercedes' insistence on hybridizing everything in its lineup, from its base I4 to AMG I4, and now the V8 too.

I need an easy going daily driver car to carry 1200lbs of rocks, soil, building/landscaping materials because that's stuff I do. Long term reliability and ownership are required also.

Wow, impressions of someone who actually drove the car and has also driven Audi and BMW and actually knows a thing or 2.
His test car doesn't have the best wheel / tire combo though

Well this would be a bummer. They can reap what they sow. C63 will dud out and bolster the competitors. M3 looking even better.

the M3 and specially the M4 is in the top 5 of most ugly cars ever imo... only surpassed by the bmw XM and other X'es, the 1 serie and the 2 series that are not the 2 door coupe, the GT models

Maybe, but try sourcing an M3. Not easy to find. I suspect the C AMG will be offered in abundance and with discount.

The article is from over a year ago before they were even taking actual orders for them. This was before all the negative reviews and everything. I wonder how many went through with an actual order.

Makes sense. They wouldn’t put all this R&D into it just to ditch it almost immediately. Can’t say I’m thrilled with the decision, but I’m getting used to this “it is what it is” era of MB.

It was fun while it lasted. Back to the lowly 4 pot and fake quad tips.

Well, another forum member pointed out here they might have plans for it but they don't want to publicly admit it as they don't want to affect the sales of the current cars and also want to see how market reacts, hopefully that is the case? Meaning there is hope for V8 to return or just a pipe dream? If the current C 63 S E Performance with the four banger does sell well however, then most likely they will scrap all plans.

Yeah, not thrilled at all with what's happening at Mercedes. They're gutting AMG. First this C63 nonsense and now the embarrassment that is the 2nd gen GT coupe. Me getting used to this = money going elsewhere.

I mean... at least we get V8 in the new AMG GT... yay (?) and it doesn't have the E-Performance non-sense although an E Performance version will be coming, at least there an option for a regular non electrified E-Performance GT 63.

Idk about the gt, i dont have 200k euro budget for a car but it should be a grand Tourer, not a track monster with that name. A successor to the s coupe.
