W205 C63 Tires sizes leaked!

by way of rage2, I got ahold of the DOG for the C-class and all of you will be disappointed to see the following.

255 rear tires...

Also, no rear fender flares.

The C300/C400 also get optional 255 in the rear.

Awesome! Compact spare! Much better than BMW and its compressor + fix-a-flat kit.

With 480+ HP this thing is just going to slide, and you'll get a face full of traction control. May need to go and get my deposit back. I'll place an order for a C450, tune it, mod it and I'll have a better car then the AMG, and it'll still probably cost less.

Or you could still get the C63 and put on a 245/265 setup.

The car didn't look like it was sliding around the 'ring when they were testing it. And in all honesty, I never had any traction problems with my 255s. Yes, I could light them up easier (when I was deliberately trying to) but when it got hot out and the tires sticky, I felt very confident in them.

I just don't think 8" and 9" contact patches are enough for 500+ horses to be rampaging to the rear wheels. We'll see. I still love the way it looks.

Based on your track record you would have cancelled your order anyways(if you actually even have a deposit down). I can go back and look at many threads on this and other forums where you've done the same. You talk a big game but don't seem to back it up ever. Just my 2 cents.

I seriously wouldn't worry. The same sizes seem to work fine for the C63 507. Now the car is going to be lighter as well.

Have a little faith in the AMG engineers. They seem to be on a roll lately. They certainly have my confidence.

I just can't fathom the new trend where people write a car's obituary (W205 C63) or hall of fame induction speech (F80 M3) before they ever even set foot in the car.

I wouldn't waste your time. If someone is going to get their deposit back based on tire size then how serious were they to begin with? The info could be wrong for all we know. One of the test mules was using 245 rubber up front.

And how exactly do I not back up what I say? I placed an order for my M3 and guess what? I got it. Placed an order for my 328xi, and I got it.

I've only backed out of TWO cars. The Porsche Macan which was on order before the C63 AMG, and that's because there were options weren't available that I wanted, and a previous gen C63. I'll post pictures of both cars when I have access.

You have a good point. Mercedes is on fire lately, and the AMG engineers know a lot more then I do. I'll wait it out. I love the way this car looks.

I'm not going to go back and dig through all your posts but their are many others that have called you out on this as well. I believe you've been referred to as "hot air".

I too was hoping for a 265-section tire after seeing the spy shots but if 255s are doing the trick in testing, I can definitely live with it.

I think that your patience will be rewarded. Part of what makes these cars fun is the proclivity toward being tail-happy.

Actually, nobody as. Like I said, I will post pictures of the cars I have owned to settle this friend, and they are on my signature.

I get it, 255 is disappointing -- but why not just go 245/275 when the OE tires wear out and call it a day? I got the 507 into one of my favorite corners then other day, and even banked, got the traction control light to come on as the rear started to step out.

Note: in this same corner, I have a higher entry speed in my '96 Cobra with coil overs, panhard bar, and 275/40/18 at each corner

Post #60 pretty much sums it up.

I'm running on three hours of sleep, don't take anything I say seriously, but I will take this thread back on course:

Something doesn't make sense.

Code: 782 18" AMG 5-Spoke 7.5J X 17??? 8.5J X 17??? Shouldn't that be code 790?

Interesting find.

Perhaps the leak was erroneous? I always take internet info with a grain of salt.

BTW, very nice E92 you used to have there.

782 is for the C400. I don't get why you are confused.

I took the screen shot from the dealer order guide. It's an official document from Mercedes.

OK, I just woke up, late for work now, so I might be wrong here... But, isn't that DOG mentioned above for the C Class only? Meaning the models they are referring to is the regular C Class lineup and not the C63 yet? In years past they have always produced a separate DOG for the AMG lineup... So, the specs you read in that dealer guide could/should have no bearing on what's to come for the C63 model.
