BTW, care to share why you moved from M3 to C63? You knew someone would ask right?

What country are you in? I see the steering wheel is on the correct side but then I see a palm tree so it's not the UK. Lol.
I ask because I see you get 3 zone climate control and we only get 2 zone in the UK. I guess though in general our weather doesn't really require it which is maybe why.

Thanks for the well wishes guys.
I live in sunny Johannesburg South Africa.
I enjoyed the m3 for the last year but obviously no match for the 63 in my opinion.
I have owned every version of an m car and I am sad to say that the f80 in my opinion was not worth a million rand. I do not drive on the track so a car that is a millisecond quicker on the track does not mean much to me. If I drive a car on the road I want the best of both worlds - luxury and power. I only drove this car a few kilometers and the exhaust note alone is intoxicating. At only 2000 rpm you can hear and feel the v8 rumble. Wow.
It's the little things to me like electric steering and heated seats that bmw does not have that makes the difference. I drove another merc with distronic plus with steering assist and I fell in love. What a nice feature to have. Bmw does not even offer that.
Then there's the interior - all I can say is that it's in a class of its own. Everyone on the bmw forum complains about the car not looking good from the rear - I get their dilemma cause that's all they gonna see when they face one on the road, the back. Lol.
To me it's a classy design that I think will age well
I don't drive 250 all the time so for me I want to enjoy the luxury bits the rest of the time. If you know what I mean.
And nothing can beat the v8 engine. Sorry for rambling on guys but very excited right now.

BMW does do their own Distronic system which they just call Adaptive Cruise Control. There's no steering assist however. I've got this on my 335d xDrive currently.
But yes I noticed I could not spec it on the M5 so not surprised you cannot get it on the M3 either. I'm going to guess but I suspect the reason why is how they fix it to the car. It covers up the front air intake quite a bit so I suspect they don't offer it on the M cars because they need all the air they can get.
Mercedes on the other hand have solved this problem perfectly by integrating it into their logo. So there's no real difference to the air intake from having it or not. It's a really smart touch.
Another thing for instance that is minor but well though out in my eyes is the reversing camera. On my BMW it's fixed and after a short drive when you want it, it's often covered in mud and pretty useless (Maybe not a problem in some countries but it rains a lot here). Merc's folds up into the bumper so when you need it, it should still be clean.
Or take the parking assistant. My BMW can parallel park, Mercs can do that and 90 degree parking as well plus it even pulls you out of a parallel park as well I believe. It's just newer tech than BMW have currently.
It's just all these extra little engineering touches where I think it's put Merc ahead of BMW in this segment now. I suspect the fully new gen 3 series might have BMW edging it back but still be a few years off as the LCI 3 series has just come out.

Congrats on the new car. You've got quite a few upgrades on the car. How come you didn't go with the S version? Some of your upgrades would have been a lot cheaper in the US and of course it might be different where you live.

Cars are shipped from Germany.
Amg's not built locally.
S version only coming in August and the car still worked out a lot cheaper even with those extras

Nice ride. Very similar to what I'm getting. What do you think of those sport seats? Comfortable for a long drive? Narrow enough to track? What's your height/weight?

Hey Zuna,
Can you please snap a few more pics of the front and rear brake calipers? Thanks in advance.

Thanks man! They look great. Absolutely massive 6-piston front caliipers.
In the U.S., red-painted calipers are an option ($500) on the standard C63. The standard calipers are painted gray/silver with white AMG logos.
Red calipers are standard on the C63 S though. I think both look really, really good. Red pops but seems to be a very common color on big brake kits in general. Silver is a bit more subdued but still unique/sharper than unpainted calipers.

2012 C63 AMG
nice to a local lad here!
I test drove an S yesterday, and i may be sold. The thing feels quite a bit faster than the W204, and the interior noise is louder.
The idle alone, with the exhaust flaps open is insane..
Congrats on yours! Drive safe! she's beautiful
