2016 C63S Pricing Opinion Request
Do you all think it is reasonable to get a 3% or $2,500 discount on a 2016 C63S custom order? The one I built has an MSRP of $85,500 and I'd like to get in for $83,000.
Haven't gone to a dealer yet...wanted to get all of my ducks in a row first and assess how much negotiating power I have (if any). Thoughts? |
I wouldn't think it unreasonable to ask for a 5% discount on a custom order. That is what I got on our GLA 250 this spring without any other negotiations. The offer was accepted without argument. I am in Canada though and find Canadian dealers generally seem to be tighter on pricing than American dealers. I was offered 4% off my 2010 C63 without any other negotiations. So yes it seems 3% discount is reasonable to me but perhaps too low.

I think a lot has to do with how the dealer is doing, I think they are pre-assigned certain numbers of the C63s to sell, and depends on the demand in your location, they may or may not entertain discount. You can always ask and try, or wait. As the coupe gets closer to ordering, I am sure the sedan demand may drop a bit.

That said, the worst thing they can do if you ask for a 3% discount is say no. There's no chance you'll get a 5% discount though. |
I received $4000 off a 2016 C63 special order

It really depends on location. I shopped in Las Vegas and Toronto for 2016 custom order C63s. The Las Vegas dealerships straight up refused to go under MSRP, despite emailing back and forth for almost 1 month. On the other hand, In Toronto, a 3% discount was offered without much resistance. I was able to get quite a bit lower, but that required a lot more effort.

Ok, I'll bite...You were shopping for a car in Vegas AND Toronto? Either you have homes in both locations or if you lived in the US, wouldn't you have to "import it" somehow? Were the US$ to CAD$ conversion roughly the same cost for the same car? |

I will have to import my Canadian car, but since C classes are built in Alabama, there is no import duty I believe. Even if their is, Canada to U.S. automobile duty is only 2.5%. The CAD is valued extremely low now, so I saved quite a bit by purchasing in Canada, even despite paying the higher Canadian MSRP and sales tax. You can go on their respective online configurators and compare yourself. However, note that Canadian C63s are not as flexible with their options as American. I.E. if you want burmester stereo then you must also have Pano sunroof as they are a package. |

Oh WOW, that's right!!!! It's built in Alabama already! So that's a great advantage... Congrats! I just remembered back in the good old days when the E36 M3 came to North America and the one in Canada came with the euro motor and the one in the US didn't. I had a few friends that wanted the Canadian version but then struggled with getting it stateside.
It has 55% US content and 25% German |
I got a 7% on a new porsche 911, I would also try for 7 at MB , they can only refuse

Yes. My friend Jessie (BenzBlogger on IG) works there. Her and I talk quite often. I would say deal with her; she's the female version of me when it comes to product knowledge ect.
