Does you fan stay on?

I took a short drive and I noticed the fan was on after parking it in the garage. Is it typical that it runs this hot and the fan stays on for 5 min even for short 15 minute drives under 4000 rpms? Weather outside was around 75 F

amanuuh 11-14-2015 10:58 PM

yeah happens after every drive

frank69m 11-15-2015 02:30 AM

thanks man. thought there may be some overheating issues.

TEAShea 11-15-2015 09:13 AM

Yeah, even with low speed drives, it goes on. Remember, the exhaust goes through the turbos.

I know this is slightly different but I think it is interesting that they do a great job of managing heat it this car.
I see about 213degF in hot weather80-90sF for the engine and it goes down to 208 in cooler weather 50s.
Trans about 186 in hot weather and down to 180 in cooler.
In cooler weather I was in mountains with a great run for 50 miles and no cars in 3rd gear (revs up) mostly and hard on it mostly. the engine stayed at about 213 and the trans went up to low 190s.
Speed makes a big difference also as in town it is higher and at highway speeds it drops some with better air flow if not to high rpms.

Nice job AMG --and by the way if you have not yet had to chance to do the AMG Academy --it is a must as I just got back from Laguna Seca (amazing track)(one instructor said he had 30,000 laps there ) and what a kick and learning experience. YOU drive them all but the C63 is really good and of course the GTS.

It goes on to cool the turbos and the oil that circulates around the turbo bearings. Also don't rev your motor hard when it is cold.

Fan stays on for me as well even on none "hot" drives.

It is normal for it to run 5-10 minutes after shutdown.

VividRacing 11-17-2015 12:07 PM

Back in the days, turbo cars would need to install a turbo timer for that. With most turbo cars nowadays, that is built in.

Is it an actual 1000 watt fan?
