Does your car smell of gas?
Since new I've noticed a fairly strong smell of gas every time I park the car. It is in the area of the filling cap on the right side of the car, but seem to come from between the wheel and the rear fender, not the cap itself.
Since my car is right hand drive, I notice it immediately as I get out of the car and grab my bag from the backseat - it's not something I have to go smell for to find.
Shop guessed it's from the gas/fume return system, but I'm sceptical. Thoughts?
Thanks!
I've noticed that the gas recirculation pump thingy is obnoxiously loud as well and pointed this out during a prior visit. Shop guys agreed, but stated nothing could be done. Oh well... My concern here is that if there is a leak somewhere in recirculation piping, it may be causing the smell as well as the pump in the engine room having to work double time. Now, if only my Japanese was good enough to communicate this...
I have two gas water heaters in the garage and gas fumes don't go together.
Mine has the smell coming from the driver's front tire area.
