C63s transmission slip
Hello everyone I am new to forums this is my first Mercedes I was an Audi guy before(RS5).
I am in love with my new car However lately I have been experiencing transmission slip after driving the car hard for instance yesterday i was at a traffic light and as soon as i got into the pedal the engine surged to 4 k and the dropped to 2k then it shifted gear and surged again to 5k i had to completely let go of the throttle and slowly engage for it to return to normal. Regards |

Is this at wide open throttle? Sounds more like ESP intervention. Is your ESP fully on, on sport, or off?

Odd, are you a MY15? You may need the transmission software update from the dealer if it hasn't already been done.

I park my car in the garage of my building, when pulling out in the mornings I have to go up a incline as its a basement parking. My transmission slips or looses gear going up hill on a cold morning when the parts havent warmed up. If it runs a little longer its warm enough to grab easy.

I have noticed the same thing too, I think its just the nature of MCT transmission but i am not really sure.

The MCT transmission is definitely quirky in slow speeds. Tends to slip, sometimes makes the car jump, etc. Definitely not nearly as smooth as something like the ZF 8-speed.
Same as coming to a stop light and you almost stop and the light goes green and you hit the throttle and it has to engage again and jerks. MB is tweaking the software and it is better but not perfect yet.:zoom: Remember the ZF is a fluid coupling and that is more forgiving. |
On and off its been discussed that in C mode when it should start in 2nd, a sporty attempt at the throttle will stomp the transmission in first and create similar signs as op described. I have not been able to reproduce this and I'm only throw it in the discussion.

i have a c63s coupe and on cold mornings in comfort mode it fells like your riding the clutch. but pop it in first gear and its fine after a few hundred meters its fine. i am a lttle confused about if this is normal or not.

When I put it in Drive (always in Sports +) it feels like the cars running a 3 grand stall converter. It free revs then then goes into gear. I actually like it when it does this but not to sure what my neighbours think. I havent noticed this issue issue any other time except in the morning. |
I had the same issue(s) with driveway maneuvering in the mornings.
I forced the dealer to do a s/w update on the ECU for the exhaust sound problem and the driveway issues are 95% resolved. My only issue that remains, relative to drivetrain operation is the rear wheel slip (aka drifting) that occurs with minimal throttle on a turn of any kind, or a bit of additional throttle pulling away from a stop (the latter causes the car to shimmy while the former causes the car to lose complete rear end traction and the back end breaks loose). |
I get the same thing in the morning but also after driving the car hard i.e when the transmision is hot.I am not really sure what's causing it really annoying.
|
At AMG Academy (and later PL event) they stated it was a good idea not to run Sport+ or Race until tranny temps went white, specifically because of this kind of cold drivetrain behavior. It's just the nature of the clutch pack coupling with the auto transmission. I just baby it in Comfort until I see triple digits for both engine and oil temps, then bump it into I* (Sport+ everything but suspension.)

Yes, this what happens with my car. Thanks a lot for documenting it as it happens pretty randomly but frequently.I guess I will take it to the dealer and ask them to check the transmission valve body.
|
Had this issue until dealer flashed with update... Now gone.
|
I have dropped my car of at the dealer on Thursday they have come back to me with yes there is a problem and they have a fault code from the transmission. and they need the car for a bit longer to sort it out so I will update when they get back to me.

I have picked up the car with an apparent software upgrade to fix the problem. But the problem still exists and now they want to further investigate with different c63s veichles to see if it's normal when cold. Which I think means I need to find a smarter Mercedes dealership.

What’s up guys, So I own a 2015 C63s edition one and I have noticed after doing 3-4 pulls in any sport mode/race mode when shifting from 3rd -4th gear the car feels like it falls on its face and the power cuts out for a few seconds then kicks back on. Iv brought it to the dealer and they keep saying nothings wrong. I even took the “AMG specialist” for a ride and didn’t see anything wrong. This happens at full throttle. I’ve attached a video. If you listen closely you can hear it. Sounds like the motor bogs out..... |
It looks like you're losing boost in the video? It's hard for me to tell because it's shaky and I have the volume muted. But what you describe sounds like the issue w/ pinched or collapsing vacuum lines.
