Not to beat up on journalist but come on, testing AWD capability? Yeah he really knows his cars! (C63 is RWD only!!) 
and though it will downshift two gears if you mash it, hes barely whipping it. The two gears he claims its dropping is nothing but you tagging the downshift paddle and it sets up two gears in anticipation but shifts only shifts one as he's not going barely hard on the accelerator. Again, the car is not just a cruiser, thats how it feels if you are being lazy and conservative with it. When you want to have a go, just use Sports+ or race and mash it, it wil give you more than you can handle. It positively feels like a rabid caged pitbull. This car dances to the drummer. You beat a furious note and the car goes completely mad. 
Now for the C43, why does he think thats what people should go for? I mean in 10yrs in 2025 people will be laughing at this C63S and calling it a porker. We know how this goes. Today its supposedly too much for general public, tomorrow its barely enough.
