Here's the sound if you keep the standard downpipes and remove the rear mufflers:

I picked my car up yesterday after having the AWE Track Edition exhaust fitted to the factory dump pipes.
I am extremely happy with the new tone my car now produces.
In 'Park' it rumbles like you would expect a V8 too and no droning on the highway.
I understand that the AWE Track Edition has a valve in the H pipe. Can you control that valve with the Exhaust control button (if you have the Performance Exhaust) or by swithing between Comfort and Sport+ mode? Does sound change with that valve open vs closed? Thank you

Sorry for duplicate. Wasn't sure how to Quote.

I drive in Sport + and recently Race Mode.
I'll update in the next couple of days on tone changes when switching the H Pipe open and closed.
I've gotten tonnes of compliments now that people can hear and see what this car is.

Lol guys!! Come on.
Yes it's 40% louder inside.
I want a sound closer to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tfZ8UMjuIeI
I know the mustang (yes yikes) has a flat NA v8 crank etc but what can I do to get something closer to that sound?
Don't treat me like I'm crazy!

I would love to know what will get as close to that as possible.
I've held back on catless DP - I keen (if anything) to get high flow DP with 100/200 Cats.

Love this thread!
OP, I'm with you. I'd prefer to have a nice rumble at idle, and throaty when @ WOT, but not willing to have the associated (sometimes) raspiness.
That's one reason I've kept my 2011 CLS63 stock, with regards to the exhaust:

hey guys,
i appreciate everyone's input. very helpful. i looked into replacing the factory h pipe by an x pipe but it involves cutting and welding so i decided against it. especially since it'll also impact the valves of the performance exhaust.
I like this suggestion but i'm very unfamiliar to it. how intrusive is it? do you happen to have sound clips of your CL?
Thanks!

I had these bullet type inline mufflers on my CL after I removed resonator and it took out all the raspy harsh tones. Can't remember brand.
Magnaflow makes these.

But these bullet mufflers are just that, streamlined as a bullet and maybe an inch or so wider so it fits anywhere. 200$ no brainer.
