R888/Super Sports

Currently running the stock 245/35/19 super sports in the front and 265/35/19 in the rear. Wanted to get R888rs for the rear at 295/30/19. Wanted to know if it would be possible/practical to run that in the rear with super sports at 275/35/19 in the front.

Sorry, not too knowledgable about tires so wanted your guys opinions. Thank you.

hello,
I am running 265 R888 in the rear with the stock tires up front. The 295 should fit ont he stock wheels however they are going to be LOUD. that is my one complaint so I am changing to 295 SuperSports for daily and may just keep the R888 for 1/4 mile days.

275 is going to be too wide in the front. i am going up to a 9.5 front and to most i would do it a 265 but even that will look "bulgy". when i was working with the wheel company he said its best to look up "2x5 on x.x wheel" and see how it looks. this s one i pulled off another forum. this is a 275 on an 8.5" wheel which is the stock front

Dope thank you for the response. So if I run 265/35/19 super sports in the front with 295/30/19 R888s in the back I should be ok on the stock 19in? Again sorry if its a noob question. Thanks in advance.

How noisy at e the R888 noisy on the highway?

I was planning on running R888 on my new wheels.

I have run the following semi slicks:

Falken Azenis RT 615 - no noise from memory - loved these

Nitto Invo - AWESOME, no noise at all but not fitted to a performance car - BMW 325i (not a true semi slick)

Nitto NT 05 - noisy as hell, put me off running semi's on the road.

My 265's fitted to my factory 8.5" front wheels don't have any bulge.

I personally decided to go for the Bridgestone re-71r in a 285 for the rear of my car as it is still a semi slick but does better in the rain then the r888s and is also a better size for the 9.5 inch wheel.

After March the Pilot Super Sport are no more.

They are being replaced with the new Pilot Sport 4s
they are supposed to be even better in every aspect

Hey man shop that said they will do it has been closed over the weekend and we set up a time for next week since it has been quite cold this week and i dont want then to crack within the first week. Just to confirm you also have 295s running on your stock 9.5 rim?

Should be here Monday and will get installed sometime in the week. Pictures attached. If you want to follow the IG its @copper.wire

That's really cool! Are you using these r888's for daily driving or just for track? I know the utqg's on these are crazy low but definitely sticky. What tire pressure (psi) are you putting in it?

Let them loose a little last night on some straights and can say the grip compared to super sports is a night and day difference. 34 psi

There's a decent amount of road noise but nothing unbearable. Valves closed with the windows up is a bit noisy. Haven't been on the highway yet but city driving I can't really hear anything with the windows down and/or the music on.

I do have a AWE Track Edition exhaust which gives just the right of in cabin rumble which may mask some road noise.

Did you get a full wheel alignment when fitting the new tyres as my standard alignment destroyed my original tyres?

Keep us updated on how the R888's go over the next couple of months, a review on wet and dry traction, wear & road noise as the tyres progress will help me out heaps.

Why didnt you fit R888's on the front???

We had some rain here today but didn't get a chance to mash it. Dry traction is amazing even with no fronts. Car accelerates 0-80 with a lot less wheel spin. No alignment as of yet. Will keep you updated. Also, a buddy of mine who drives an F10 M5 ran his stock Pirellis up front and threw R888s in the back. Also saw someone at Shift S3ctor run 305 Nt05s in the back with PSS up front and he said he had no issues.

Modio1234 03-27-2017 04:45 PM

Went to 2 shops and both said they were unable to get my 295/30/19 r888r tires on my rims looks like you guys have better installers than me.

RaceHorse 04-06-2017 05:07 AM

How do the 295/30/19s feel at speed on the 9.5" wheels? Have you pushed the car over 140,160,180 mph? I'm thinking of going the same route for a dedicated speed event setup. I have 305s on 10.5" wheels for around town and short sprints, but the car doesn't feel safe over 140mph with that setup. I'm not sure if it's the tire, the width or combo using 15mm spacers. I've hit 200mph with the stock size tires but I'm looking for traction that's not offered in stock sizes. I think the R888r should do the job.

I use a mobile company that I came across a while back when I got a puncture.

Ive used them quite a bit since the first time and they fitted both the 295's to the rear 9.5" factory wheel and the 265's to the front.

No questions either time...

Modio1234 04-08-2017 04:02 PM

One shop wound not even touch it and another said they could not get the bead to sit correctly. I guess thats what i get for trying to go to big name brand tire shops but i dont give up that easy i will go to every tire shop around until someone installs it for me just have to find time for it now.

RaceHorse 04-08-2017 04:34 PM

Good luck getting them mounted. Any feed back on high speed pulls would be much appreciated.
